Anyone do "phone apps"? (Javacool? Pepi?)

The app itself needs to be password protected to open it.

CLOSING the app must totally shut it down so that the password would again be required to re-start/access it at all.

The app would have to be written to cover Android, iOs and Windows.

Purpose/Function - The phone app is to send out a "HELP!" message (that's all, just "Help!"), with the sender's (a) actual location displayed (app capable of using geo-locating services to broadcast its' location) or (b) the users' physical "home" address displayed. (a) or (b) would be a "user-selectable" feature, one or the other.

The "Help!" message itself must be triggered by the user keying in a user-chosen three-digit code on their cellphone after the program is opened.

When the "Help!" signal is generated (set off) on any phone by a user, all OTHER phones that have the same software installed need to give off an audible "beeping" sound that doesn't stop until the other phone's users OPEN the program and check the "HELP!" message.

When they do, all that will be displayed is the location of the phone that is giving off the HELP!" signal - and an option to MapQuest/Google driving directions to the phone giving off the "HELP!" signal FROM wherever the phone receiving the "HELP!" message is.

After the "HELP!" message is read and either acted-upon or ignored by any receiving software user, their closing the software on THEIR phone sends the "location" details, time/date to a log-file within the program, which they can recall and view later.

Found an app that almost fills the bill and have successfully tested it out. It's called "SEND HELP!" and you can get it from the AppStore.

"Once you get it set up (d/l it to phone, register it, type in the "message" you want to send, add/enter up to 7 people's phone numbers and email addresses, put in your FB and/or Twitter ID, etc., allow the app to use your phones' location feature so everyone will know where the "alert" is coming from when you send it, etc.).

If any of us get hammered, it could very well be the ONLY way we'll have the opportunity to get the word out to our closest REAL friends, or help on the way. This app is QUICK - press the "SEND HELP!" button itself on the app after you open it, press "Send SMS" and you're done and the message is out that something's seriously wrong.

The only "problem" I see with it is that it only works on iPhone/iPad/iPodTouch, iOS 5 and above. Perhaps if the developer gets enough interest shown, he'll start offering it for the rest of the platforms.

I don't like the fact that it doesn't 'auto-delete" all the contacts you put in after it actually SENDS the alert, but like I said - you can always smash the phone with your boot after you trigger the alert. You probably won't be needing it again any time soon, anyway.

I ran the test today and all of the contacts I typed in (1) got an email (2) got a text. The "message" I had entered for the app appeared on my FB page. All three events were accompanied by a GoogleMap link to my house - and even a PIC of my house! And another clickable link that would give you driving directions TO my house.

This thing works exactly as advertised - and could mean the difference between life-and-death for you and your loved ones. So if you're an iPhone-type user, I unreservedly recommend it. Pete

 

What exactly is this for? You said "hammered" (drunk? ), but I'm not sure why you'd need to destroy the phone in that case.

Is it for if you're kidnapped or something? It sounds like you want it for an emergency where calling 911 is not an option for some reason.
