Can you download this?

I'm trying to download the experimental version of Better Explorer, which is ~ 10 MB, but it always fails, ending at 960 KB. I've tried a few times already, and the last one was about 3 hours ago, and still nothing.

Alright, I went to their main website and downloaded both the main installer and the ZIP experimental one. Worked just fine for me as well.

 

I don't think it's related to zip files, because I can download other zip files just fine.

By the way, I previously tried to download with FDM (Free Download Manager). I now tried with Chromium itself, and got a page saying Invalid.

FYI, I also get Invalid for the installer version as well. Odd. FDM does the start the download, but then the same that happens with the zip file happens with the exe file.

I'm now trying with Internet Explorer 10 and see what happens. -edit- It failed as well. -end of edit-

I didn't allow Google Analytics and could download just fine. Made no sense if it's the cause.

As I am someone from the team, I'd like to clear up this case.

Yes, downloading is only possible when you visit the page, and not by opening the download link directly. We are using a php script that checks if the user is a legitimate user and not a bot, etc - so it's no problem if you block google analytics, or you are using noscript, adblock plus (no ads on the page anyway ), etc.

There has been very much abuse when we offered direct links to the file, so it's now handled this way.

I uploaded the Beta 2 setup to a directory, so that you are able to download it. it will be removed in a day or two. You can download this one with a download manager.

The problem is I couldn't download by going to -http://better-explorer.com/downloads/ either. I couldn't do it with a download manager, Chromium or Internet Explorer 10.

You mention that the link you're temporarily providing now can be used with a download manager, so I take it that the regular download links cannot. That means that only with web browsers, and perhaps cookies need to be allowed in this situation? I haven't tried it, but I block all cookies, and never thought of it. Not sure if that's what's happening, though.

I actually get two different results. With Chromium, I get the Invalid message. With Internet Explorer 10, the download initiates, but then it stops after a few KBs have been downloaded.

I'll have to try with other web browsers. I shouldn't have deleted Firefox from my system. There's clearly something unique to my system (considering it also affects IE10), that's preventing me from download it.

 

All I can tell is, that it's no server-side problem

The disk has been replaced a month ago and I've tested everything - and it's ok.

It could be your anti-virus appplication, etc...

I was able to download from the link supplied in the OP, never visited the site...

 

I was able to download them now. Both the beta and experimental versions.

I believe that it was due to being in a lower speed connection these past weeks. Speed is back to its normal state now and all is fine.

By the way, it seems that the link to download the experimental version is gone from the web site? (I had it saved, which is why I was able to download it as well.)
