Hi guys, I had windows 8 but decided it wasn't for me and installed a clean copy of windows 7 but while installing Outpost Firewall 8 it seems something has gone wrong and it doesn't load. I get this in the taskbar notification area and it never changes:

I have tried to uninstall the program but while the following window is open it closes within seconds and never completes:

If I try to reinstall Outpost I get this error:

I have booted into safemode and tried to uninstall and tried run clean.exe but it says I am not in safe mode (I am)

Do you have any ideas on what I can try next to either install or uninstall?

I also have Avast free installed where as before I have always used the paid for NOD32, I don't know if that may have caused any problems but even disabling it permanently, Outpost doesn't load...

I downloaded another copy of clean.exe from Agnitum's website and that worked so Outpost is uninstalled. Going to try and do another install in a few minutes.

Not sure why my copy of clean.exe didn't work though...

Hopefully the install goes ok this time..

    Hi poison: -
Yes, very interested in how Outpost performs for you.

    Thanks for posting.

PS: You did good! There are other posts here on uninstalling Outpost...it can sometimes be a little difficult [maybe not as much as the crud left behind by early versions of Zone Alarm]

see here young man [love that expression of Bellgamin's]....

    Thanks all!

I am glad it worked out OK in the end, it was the first problem I've ever had with Outpost and I have been using it years... Hopefully any other people having a similar problem can quickly resolve it by using the info posted by myself and Feandur's link.

What happened to Bellgamin? I haven't seen any posts from him in forever. I hope he is well and just taking a break from Wilders.
