    Hi Jaodsvuda:

Just noticed you're using Outpost Security Suite + WSA
Is there any conflict with 2 anti-virus and 2 firewalls running in you're system?

Any special settings you would recommend?

    -cheers,
    feandur.

Yes,I know ,and my DW is a fw edition too ( :argh: )...Lucky for me,both OSS and DW are highly tolerable applications. It all started as (some kind of ) a joke, but it´s working quite well with FFox and it´s plugins.
OSS came after WSA,and the last was DW ( I´m a DW-holic) . WSA is on default settings , but I had to exclude DW in Outpost fw for any network action. Now DW is working as usual too,and this combo is faster than Avast free-OSS (full)-DW variant I´ve tried first.

What reason would you wish to run 2 firewalls.?
That is preposterous and asking for conflicts and issues.

Same principle must apply when it comes to 2 antiviruses.

Of course 2 firewalls will not co-exist peacefully.
    Just stick with outpost.

    Thanks.

    Thanks Jaodsvuda:

Any special order of install?...that is, is it best to install Outpost FW first, and then the AV?...or the other way around ?...

Sorry...1st WSA ( default) ,2nd OSS (default + auto-learning),3rd DW (default) . Same with Avast (Avast-OSS-DW).Then you tweak OSS if there´s a need for that (excluding etc.),run every app you have ("auto-learning"),get out of auto-learn mode...
The reason for all this is in...let´s say...my lack of trust in WSA or OSS playing solo, and I´m (still) not ready to go AV-less,just with DW.

    Thanks Dermot7:

    OK Got it!.

WSA firewall is an outbound FW / extension that is malware aware: -
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2205193&postcount=13
and designed to be used with another firewall for inbound control....specifically windows firewall.

So, it's all good to go with another firewall.....

OK; But, what sort of AV am I taking on with the WSA AV?....how effective is it as an AV?

It's very light, with few system impacts ..certainly:
    http://www.passmark.com/benchmark-reports/

But It has very poor showing in the Matousec tests
    http://www.matousec.com/projects/proactive-security-challenge-64/results.php

At AV-comparatives it trails the pack, and is not tested in 2013:
    http://chart.av-comparatives.org/chart1.php

At AV-test it shows up with very good protection, but at the expense of lots of False Positives on Win 7-
    http://www.av-test.org/no_cache/en/tests/test-reports/?tx_avtestreports_pi1%5Breport_no%5D=124574

and is middle of the pack, and still with FP's, on Win 8
    http://www.av-test.org/no_cache/en/tests/test-reports/?tx_avtestreports_pi1%5Breport_no%5D=124574

It has not entered testing at Virus-Bulletin for 2 years
    http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archive/vendor?id=55

I must admit I'm not persuaded by any argument that a program is so special that it can't be tested....... Reminds me of the argument used by SoftRAM in the late 1990's [disclaimer: no association intended. Webroot are an entirely reputable company with a platinum award by West Coast Labs....just meaning that "inability to measure how good a product is" is a poor argument].

I would like to use WSA, but honestly wonder if another AV may be better (at exploit blocking) when used in combo with Outpost.

Hayc59 ? Triple Helix ? Securon, Kees1958...ehh...Windows_Security? Others? Any comments?...

    ********
PS: Just as I was finishing typing this posting I noticed your post Hayc59...
I assume you mean it would be best upgrading to the Outpost Security Suite Pro (complete including AV) rather than just OP pro firewall?..and that if I did it would be very solid without conflict with WSA despite the 2 AV's....

Hayc59 - Do you mean WSA AV, WSA IS, or WSA complete that you combine with OSS.?

Doesn't matter which WSA. The other versions just add ancillary things. I've used WSA with OSSP and didn't have any issues. I think that if configured a little more WSA is very secure. It does perform a little bit different than a static AV. If something isn't detected, it's labeled as untrusted and monitored. Once its monitored, WSA "records" everything that the process does. It also limits its access and ability to "call home" So it's pretty much dead in the water. Once the signatures or community recognize it as malware, then it's quarantined.

    Thanks Kjdemuth -
That was an important reply post for me....

I really got excited by the impression that WSA is acting a little in the same way as DW does. - which is exactly what I'm looking for. Plus its light!

    - cheers,
    thanks for posting
