Definitely some issue there because i can even run that file in my Linux system right now.

Is your system ok with you to perform a system restore and then see if it runs or better yet some very recent image backups to select from?

Hope this all gets sorted out for you soon.

    Regards Easter

I've resolved the issue with my computer.

Last Thursday, I upgraded and immediately ran Privazer while my Windows 8 was also in the process of updating itself.
The Windows updates interfered with Privazer's command to shut down the computer; therefore, my computer hasn't been turned off since May 16.
In addition, new Windows updates also did not allow (?) me to run Privazer.exe
This morning, I turned off and restarted my computer. As soon as my computer properly updated itself, all my problems were gone.
No problems with Privazer, just a regular life with Windows 8 OS.

Congrats! on the remedy of it resolving itself that way.

I just resolved my non bootable Windows 8 issue tonite so i celebrate along with you indeed. Finally!

I tried everything but what worked. Entered Windows from a Linux live usb and manually copied a saved registry backup overwriting the existing files with them and lo and behold, a normal boot up into windows again after a week of hitting nothing but brick walls.

Windows can test our nerves (and patience) sometimes.

    Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1

Hi there, I'm trying out PrivaZer and have read right through this thread.

A couple of questions, firstly does the above quote still apply (was posted back in Feb 13, page 2 of this thread)? I also have IE disabled and would still like the Temp Internet Files cache to be cleaned out.

I'm not sure where to look to find if it's been greyed out, is this the page?

    PrivaZer Temp Int Files.png

Secondly, reading through your User Guide, you list MFT as meaning 'Managed File Transfer'.

    PrivaZer MFT.png

Now I'm no computer whizz, but surely you mean 'Master File Table'. Interestingly, when I did a quick search to getting my facts straight I came across the following in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MFT

    MFT.png

However, when you use the term MFT in context in the guide it fits to meaning Master File Table

    PrivaZer MFT 2.png

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks for excellent software!

    Hello Chigwells,

    thanks for your nice words.

    1. Please add your temp Internet Files cache path to the "Additional files, folders" (see your screenshot).

    2. you are right.
MFT stands for Master File Table.

As an avid clean obsession dude, this utility is a tremendous confidence builder.

I always subscribed to the notion that the more tidy a user can keep the disc, the more performance there is to be realized!

While we can't physically reach inside to fine clean or polish the platter, running PrivaZer and ShellBagsAnalyzer seems to efficiently enough clear away those space wasting file bits and pieces.

Running it routinely on a twice a day schedule with no problems whatsoever. Good.job PrivaZer.

    Hi, thanks for your response,

    PrivaZer Temp Internet files.png

So this is how you mean? As I have a couple of user accounts I have had to include each of the paths.

Will you be incorporating this into future versions? The fact that you haven't yet incorporated this (Fad asked you back in February) means you don't consider this a priority to clean the cache?

    Yes,
it will take some time as long as there is this workaround which is quiet satisfying.

I just ran both Privazer and ShellBag Cleaner on Windows Home Server 2011 (Server 2008 R2) and had ZERO problems. This software must continue! :D

(I have tried other 'privacy' software on it before, and always ended up having to re-image...it's fickle when it comes to deviating from stock).

    Some comments:

Can we get .customdestinations-ms files removed? How about previous wireless access points in the registry and Wlansvs folder?

Is there any way for the program to look for actual plaintext data in the free space? I ask this, because I had previously run Eraser on one of the drives, resulting in 100% random data in the free space. Privazer marked it as 100% of the sectors needing to be set to 0.

Love this software, I need to donate now...it worked perfectly and I feel guilty now :D

Echo my own stellar results as well. I realize an incredible performance gain using this app daily. Never mind privacy on my end. Nixing shellbags & folders for one eliminates unneeded tracking entities if only til the next clean and that alone gives the seek heads less activity to stumble over.

Deep file system wiping of free space and $mft traces makes Defrags less time consuming. A very beneficial bonus! for optimum performance gains.

    @The_PrivaZer_Team

PrivaZer wipes/destroy's one of my startup programs - NoVirusThanks EXE Radar Pro.

Download the trial of ERP, do a full system scan and clean, then restart.

NoVirusThanks EXE Radar Pro will no longer work the next time you go into Windows.

Is there a proper way to fix this?

I had to stop using your program because of this.

    @PaulyDefran
    Hello Pauly,
firstly, thanks for your kind words about PrivaZer ! :D

    1. Remove .customdestinations-ms files ?
PrivaZer is already able to remove .customdestinations-ms files & automaticDestinations-ms files smartly. Please see "Jump Lists" section in the screenshot.
.customdestinations-ms files & automaticDestinations-ms files store info used by Jump Lists : most recent files used, most frequent files used which is a privacy issue.
What can also happen, is that old files (deleted files) may still appear in Jump Lists ! That's also a privacy issue.

PrivaZer is the only cleaning tool which offers you the ability :
    - to smartly clean Jump lists by removing references to files and preserving files you pinned in the list. Other cleaners simply removes all .customdestinations-ms files & automaticDestinations-ms files, deleting your pinned files...
    - to select which Jumplists you want to clean

    2. Previous wireless access points in the registry and Wlansvs folder?
We will add this in a next release.

    3. Is there any way for the program to look for actual plaintext data in the free space?
Yes, you can view a selection of free space clusters.
Click "Examples of sectors to reset to zero" in PrivaZer. See screenshot.

    @Chigwells
MFT Abbreviations error is now fixed in the User's Guide

    Thanks.
