AV for Millenium

It's not for me ! But a friend wants to do his very old notebook with Millenium to his child, and he needs an av for it.

 

Wow! Millenium was worse than a virus No idea but at least you could try suggesting him to put XP on that lappie if possible.

 

Agree ! but he insists to use it.

 

XP support will end soon, upgrade to Win 7/8.

 

Is he stuck in the past or what?

 

Agree: I could install and set a latter Windows version for him, but he needs the license, and for him OS are like... detergents, one or the other...

It would be very unprofessional to suggest you something. This is dead OS released 13 years ago - it lacks many features of modern OS, it is vulnerable, not many viruses would even work on that. Windows ME was also agreed as unsuccessful OS. Your friend should just through away this old machine.

 

Agreeeeeee . I already told him all this, and also that to find a real time av for Millenium was impossible. But I did my mission here , I can say to him that I did.

 

From a security perspective he should toss that old notebook with Millenium on it out, and instead consider to buy one of these cheaper tablets for the child. IMO

 

Consider a Linux distribution instead.

I'm curious at why does your friend want to load ME to his child. Bad parent!! =V

 

How old is the child he/she may like Linux better they make distributions just for kids don't they? As far as learning the ropes these kids seem to be able to figure things out pretty fast..

No, he found at his home an old notebook with ME. And his idea is: to give it to his child and..forget.

Puppy Linux was designed to run on old hardware and would replace Windows Mistake Edition nicely

 

maybe your friend prefers spartan style training for kids in 300 movie.i mean think if a kid can learn to browse big bad web using windows ME then how good he or she would be in future when using windows 8(or 9 or 10)

 

I can appreciate wanting to give the notebook as gift to his child but...such a gift, there would be constant problems with the notebook. Since the notebook was left in his home the owner mite consider the notebook more trouble than it is worth. I don,t think he will be forgetting any time soon as I think the child will remind him, unless he is moving to the other side of the world.

 

I believe that the notebook will be used only for games - the few games that can play on.

 

This could potentially affect the child psychologically. Scare-off your friend and say just get his child a tablet or netbook. If he's still persistent, well, there's no option other than giving an exorcising brofist.
