    Hello,

Is there a known cause for "Merge Error C1000011 Code 5" when doing a manual delete/merge?

    Isso,
Yes, it would be nice to solve this problem without additional tools or procedures.
I'd prefer to get a complete snapshot, so that I'm sure I have everything, and that I can mount anytime later,
rather than have a one time chance to recover things before they are gone forever,
and possibly forget to recover something.

    TS,
yes, AXTM recovery media that I have tested (Win8 64, XP 32) does not allow you to make a backup.

I was able to mount snapshots and I restored my Win8 64 system fine.

Just experimented a little - I had expected a rocky road after your comment, but it was surprisingly easy...

I used Explorer++ ( www.explorerplusplus.com ). It is published under the GPL, should be no problem to distribute it with AXTM as long as you provide links to the license and the source code.

Created the recovery ISO, opened it with UltraEdit and added Explorer++.exe to the root folder. Saved the ISO, burned a CD and booted from it.

Launched cmd.exe from the backup browser and tried to find Explorer++.exe. It can't be found under the drive letter X:, it is on the drive letter for the physical CD drive. In my case (Win7 32bit installation, no additional partitions) this drive letter was E:, because the normally hidden 100MB partition in front of the system partition is not hidden in the PE environment.

Anyway, I executed E:\Explorer++.exe, and everything works without any problems. All drives are accessible, I can copy and move files, no issues at all.

Of course it would be more elegant if Explorer++ could be integrated into the boot.wim file, but this probably requires the WAIK. I am quite happy with the way it works now, and after all this is not a feature you would use every day...

    Cheers

    Al, Thanks for the tip.

Now the AXTM XP recovery boots, but fails with a BSOD
    UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
    STOP: 0x000000ED (0x89673928, 0xC0000013, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

The AXTM Win8 recovery boots fine.

Lots of very good ideas coming after the release! Time for another beta stage Isso? :D Just kiddin', I'm sure we all can do with the way it is right now.

By the way, I think I found the reason of the problem I'm facing with Recovery Media created under XP Pro, will do some more testing and let you know to see if we can get it fixed. ;)

    Regards.

I had it, just reboot, redelete the snapshot, then the merge will complete.

    Hi Isso
Congratulations to the release and thanks for the license. I added the exception in Avast, deleted Sysrestore and threatfire.Uninstalled Acronis and I'm currently backing all my data to another harddrive just to be on the safe side.
Once I have that I'll start trying restoring from inside windows. The restore from the recovery disk worked like a charm.
good luck with everything and I'll keep you posted

Thanks. Looks like thru some experimenting you nailed down the method to avoid that issue.

Phew... I'm still puzzled about the Recovery Media... it doesn't want to work with my hardware it seems... Anyone else had problems with the Recovery Media created under XP?

EDIT: I was able to restore from within a Recovery Media created under W7.

Regarding the issue with the file icons not showing in the Backup Browser. Its actually the Shortcuts that are missing their icon.

Guys, I've just installed forum and ticketing system to our website. You can access it here.
It has very neat features, is extremely easy to use, allows to post ideas as well as to file tickets, and will really help keep the information categorized.
You can easily sign in with email, or Facebook or Google account.

I know that everybody will hate to use yet another forum, but the thread here became extremely big and it's close to impossible to find any information in it. So I would really appreciate that you use the forum at feedback.ax64.com. If you don't like it I'll change it to something else. Let me know your comments. Thank you

    Isso

EDIT: we can continue using the forum here, but at least please post your ideas and bug reports there, so it's easier to track them.

Why would you want to grab and use the last beta instead of the latest release?

Cause I was too busy and lazy (alternating) to make a disk image and then beta test. Won't get any free licenses, and dislike trials (never consider cracks), so onto the next best thing. Far from rich, so there you go.

Sorry to tell you then, but the last several betas were trials... And Isso is offering all Wilders members a 25% discount...

If you do this and then AX merges a bunch of subsequent backups with ones previous to the manual snapshot will you be able to restore to your manual backup? Seems to me that this would be problematic, especially if we are talking weeks or possibly more.

 I never knew... On the unlikely event someone enlightens me which was the last free version, or I hunt for it through all the (dark) corners of the Internet, it probably doesn't support SSD's. Oh well.

This is a thread, not a forum. A number of products have their own forums on Wilders.Would be nice if ax could too.

It looks like you have to choose between manual or automatic, so if you start doing manual and then switch to auto they might not merge the manual into the automatic snapshots. Just a thought.
