Searching an antivirus with "Let user decide what to do" option when a risk is found

Hello people,

Just wanted to ask you a question about antiviruses/Internet securitys.

Is there any antivirus (for windows where is possible to configure it in any way so that when it detects a virus it lets you DECIDE if you want to ignore and run the application?

For example, I get an application, antivirus detects it as a risk and I know it is clean. However antivirus automatically deletes the file.

I would like to have the option to ignore the warning and have the ability to run the application because I am 100% sure it is not a virus.

I've been playing with the so many configs of several antiviruses but I haven't got it to work with anyone except with F-Secure 2013. I'm starting to wonder if it is possible to do it with any other.

I've tried so far with Kaspersky, Avast, Norton, Avira, AVG, Comodo Internet Security, McAfee, Panda Cloud.

I tried Eset too but I don't remember. However I think it didn't let it neither.


PS: I've used latest versions of 2013 year of every product.

Kaspersky should allow you to do it if you change the setting so it does not decide automatically. ESET I think should be the same but you have to change the settings also. MSE will also let you decide from what I have seen. Norton does not. The others I have not used enough recently to know what they do.

 

Most AVs will let you change their override if you use their exclusions list. WSA has options to configure how you would like to respond, but immediately upon detecting a file, you can uncheck it, click "Continue", and it will ask you if you want to allow it moving forward.

WSA - set it to now allow any unkown application to run. If it hasn't been deemed good by the Cloud, you will be given options wether you want to start it or not.

 

I'm using Emssioft Anti-Malware and the realtime file guard offers 3 options for detected files;

- Alert (you can decide do what to do and create a rule for that decision)
- Block and quarantine silently
- Block, quarantine and notify


3rd option is default. Guess that's the default option in almost all anti-malware applications.

 

Most AV's should have this option somewhere in the settings.

 

Avast can be changed to ask.

Avira, I believe, default is interactive.

Emsisoft, as previously stated, can be set to alert.

Whitelist/exclusions can be found in each of these.

 

If what I'm thinking is right, untick the "Apply recommended actions" checkbox in Win 8 Defender. You can then decide what to do with the file, it shouldn't be quarantined. Other AVs usually ask you if you want to quarantine/delete/ignore the detected file.

Scrap that, use 3rd party AV like Avira/Avast/etc. They usually ask you about that by default.

I just know that Win 8 Defender no longer has the "Default Action" tab. Why?

 

I recommend Panda Cloud AV or AVG Free.

 

I've found that WSA is a bit touch and go concerning excluded exes....I've tried to add files (exes) to the excluded list, ie removed from quarantine and added to the allow....(monitor\block)...And having chosen allow its still blocked, the only way to execute the file was to turn WSA off.

 

Comodo also prompts for user action, but can also be configured with "auto quarantine and restore-and-exclude from quarantine"....

 

Panda cloud or Baidu AV. Light and good.

 

uncheck Select action automatically in General settings of Kaspersky. It'd help
