Hi Eset. I read somewhere (I forget the source) that ESS can't block a ping attack test. Is this true? Thanks.
Within trusted zone ICMP is allowed by default. From outside the Trusted zone, you shouldn't be able to ping a computer with default settings.
If I use "Allow Sharing" for my encrypted wireless network settings via ESS, should I be worried about this Ping Attack from hackers or someone outside the Trusted Zone? Thanks Marcos.
Your router will only open the ping port when told to by a computer on the local side, it does this either via PnP or by seeing your comp send out traffic of the same type(which method depends on the router model/manufacture). Disabling PnP on the router is a good place to start, as well as your box.
