One of Newegg's Shellshockers for today is for WSA for 5 bucks. Here's the link.

The trend of company's selling Webroot products for $5 has been common for the last year or so. I really wonder why.

a while ago, webroot made 'spy sweeper', and at the time, it was called an anti-spyware product. it was great as a scanner, but I had difficulty getting it to play nicely with antiviruses.

I would use it as a standalone program. definitely a good deal.

Just a reminder, WSA is a completely different product, company (former prevx) and developers.

    Prevx 3 = Phasing out
Prevx 4 = Webroot Security Anywhere (webroot acquired Prevx and PREVX4 was launched with the new name WSA)
    SpySweeper = No idea :)

spy sweeper's def's, prevx's scanner. good product IMO.

3 computers?...how can you beat that?

Might be worth to say that WSA is SO Much More than Spy Sweeper ever was, so you get much more and much better protection with WSA as well. :thumb:

    they also say this:

25GB of online storage to protect your files, photos, music and more.

even if you don't like the protection, you still get your moneys worth with the online storage they throw in.

Just to confirm, the Webroot license doesn't start until the day it's activated correct? So if I buy 3, I will have 3yrs of protection as long as I don't activate all 3 licenses at the same time? This would be a great deal for my parents.

Awesome news Helix, thanks! One last question, my 70+ year old dad uses XP (SP3 I think) and won't be upgrading voluntarily any time soon. Any known issues with WSA AV on his machine?

I am not sure I need it, but do I understand correctly that Webroot will run OK with AVs, such as KIS and Avast?

What would it add that I might need with KIS and Avast Pro?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

thanks for pointing that out SweX.

you go to the link provided above, where the deal is offered at newegg:

right next to the item offered, click 'view details'.

scroll down to where it says 'Product Overview'

right there in the text below, right next to another picture of the product (that product being ANTIVIRUS 2013 in specific), it says it:
25GB of online storage to protect your files, photos, music and more

this is deceptive if you don't get the online storage with the deal

I know it's a great deal without the online storage, but why even mention the online storage if it's not part of the deal? why not just tell the person what they are getting? hmm...

An added layer but I see that you use MBAM in realtime also and all of the 3 will work together but I found WSA to be in it's own category as it has rollback feature if it missed and infection it will rollback to the state before the infection when determined bad in the cloud.

Anytime! And one more good thing for older PC's as WSA only uses 3 to 5 meg of Ram!

Your very welcome if you do get WSA and use it make sure KIS & Avast Pro does not block any WSA processes that need access to the system and the internet. ;)
