Ver.15 has worked well for me on Win 7. The incrementals are fast, and no failed restores.:) Granted the restore disc is outdated, built on Vista.

Ghost 15 can't be Activated in Win8 and it doesn't support UEFI systems. But Ghost 15 will backup and restore Win8 installed in MBR mode. (even though Ghost 15 is not activated and is in Trial mode)

Ghost 15 is fine with Win7.

To be fair it is just getting renamed to system recovery 2013 desktop edition. it has the same interface.
I am testing the new product atm and I do like it alot.

Symantec SSR (formerly BESR) has been around in desktop form for years. Most end users cannot easily obtain the product and Symantec doesn't make finding the single user license SKU easy for most average end users.

Since Ghost was simply a scaled down version of BESR/SSR (that eliminated a few features such as dissimilar hardware restore) and now they've decided to dump Ghost, its clear they are giving up on end users for imaging. Likely due to Microsoft including decent imaging in Windows 8.

I just checked the pricing of SSR 2013 Desktop. $131 in Australia. $85 in USA. That's too much for a home user.

No. It's a separate product and at a horrible price.

As I said, Symantec doesn't make it easy but I think this is the correct SKU for Desktop edition

    Retail package - 21262956

    Download version - Q8Q6WZF0-EI1EA

Both are single user with 1 year support.

    Either can be found ~US$50.

    claykin,

    That's a better deal than I found.

Here's the Australian Symantec site for $131.03

Yep, hard to find to give it a trial. When you go to their site and click the download button it takes you to a business account logon. Not sure I want to go to that trouble for a test They are missing opportunities by doing it that way. I am less than pleased with Acronis 2013. The thing works fine... until you want to restore.

I paid £52 for SSR 2013 from a reseller in the uk and got 36months of essential support. if I had got it direct I would of paid £54 and only got 12months support.

Last post I saw about Ghost 16 from a Norton/Symantec employee was after the latest SSR was released and they would be releasing Ghost 16 which would be based on SSR 2013. I guess they changed their minds.

If SSR2013 the same interface as Ghost, I would not be the least but interested as that is what they took over from Drive Image 10 years ago and never changed and that interface is one of the most confusing I have ever seen.
