I turned off MBAM pro and went "Old school" with Threatfire 4.7 next to avast! I'll tell you, it might be dead but its still a beast at protection :thumb:

Most XP users have been aware of it's EOL for awhile now. There's still a chance they could push that date back 1 more year as it nears, from pressure from all the people still on it, as it still holds a very large market share... and especially from enterprise users.

But even if it does end a year from now... that doesn't mean support really ends. There are people out there... dedicated, old school peeps that will keep it alive, and keep throwing things at it and patching it. Some are still even doing it with 98SE and 2K. MSFN is such a place.

XP isn't going to die that day... MS will just wash it's hands of it. I won't.

That being said I got this new/old box so that just in case I change my mind I have specs that can handle a current gen OS. Right now I'm running XP Pro on it, but I could throw Win8 x64 on there right now, properly trimmed, and make it fly I'm sure once I learn my way around it.

I had to get rid of avast! :(

It was slowing down streaming media over the net, like YouTube, etc.

I went back to Comodo Internet Security and I can now watch videos in 1080p, without constant buffering and pauses.

    So, here it is:

Comodo Internet Security and NoVirusThanks EXE Radar Pro

I don't think they would add a HIPS or Behavior Blocker
reason being that they are not a traditional AV, they only detect what other AVs can't and are not meant to emulate the features of AVs.
And relying on signatures and traces alone can ensure that their False Positives remain absolute minimum. :)

Here's a tip for those of you who may still be running XP as I am, and this applies to the home version, as well as the pro version. Most of you running XP don't bother to create restore points, you let the built in feature create them. Well, when you are not too busy, and your box is running ok, click on System Restore, and create a restore point. I do it fairly often. It pays off. ~AND~ I have Super Antispyware waiting in reserve, with its "Repair System Restore" feature, in case some load of crap disables System Restore on Windows, which is fairly common. I have used that once or twice over the decades and eons. You don't have to mirror, or virtual anything, if you have a good restore point, and there is always safe mode. You can thank me later~Zitch~

I agree. When I first installed MBAM, it found a minor league piece of malware, and has found nothing since. And that has been quite a while. I do keep it around, however, in a forensics role. Oh, by the way, I posted the other day about removing Avast, and installing Bit Defender free. I have since gone back to Avast, guess I am an Avast die hard.~Zitch~

No, I like the product. I just keep forgetting its not only me using this computer it is also my wife who Isn't that good with security pop-ups that require decision making (which sadly is most if not all BB/HIPS) and plus its almost a lazy mans config only dealing with signature based products. Most people would call this a weak config because it lacks a "Zero day/hour" option but with all of the Avast! proactive measures (Evo-gen, sandbox, Behavior Shield) I'm comfortable with this config. and believe I have all of my "holes" covered :)

Don't know what system you are running, but if it is XP, you can drop your ram usage by doing the following: Start>Run>regedit>and remove the following registry key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREClassesCLSID{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}InProcServer32" I did this a while back, have 38 processes running, my CPU usage runs anywhere from 4 to 47 percent. This is a registry error that is common on XP machines, that have had more than one firewall installed. I noticed a big difference after I did this.~Zitch~

Good choice as it has become a nice and light product after the 2013 version.
Couple it with Comodo or any other free firewall.
