I purchased a package off ebay which included KIS 2012 and Trend Micro+ 2012 AV.

I had never considered using Trend Micro, but when I looked at the results on AV-C I was pleasantly surprised at the results near the top with BD.

Anyone here use TM? I don't see any comments, but maybe that is because I skim over it.

I might add that the prices for Trend Micro are very cheap on ebay for boxed copies.

    Thanks,
    Jerry

Good Evening! JerryM...I'm really impressed the way Trend has dramatically improved over the last two quarters of 2012...I currently have a license for Trend Titanium Internet Security. I like the simple uncluttered Gui...and the simplicity of it's Feature Set. Only Con is you have to remove any other security app during the install and set-up of the application. It's as you know completely Cloud based...so I'm still sitting on the fence...in regards to fully accepting a Cloud based product. Other wise Trend can be purchased at the Download Crew...out of the U.K. or Purplus out of the U.S.A. for super competitive pricing. When my fence sitting ends...I might end up in the Cloud...Lol! Sincerely...Securon

    Hi Securon,
I appreciate the reply. I did not know it was cloud based. It does not seem to have a very large user base here, and maybe that is the reason. I am happy at this time with the two I am using, KIS and Avast Pro.

I may try TM sometime, but not now knowing that it is cloud based. I do not know enough to really know why, however.:D

    Thanks again,
    Jerry

I have just gone back to the antivirus. Its the closest to bitdefender free ,as far as lightness goes.I also use there free Directpass, which gives a safe banking browser, much like ,Bitdefender ,Avast and Kaspersky.I was happy with Bitdefender free but had a problem with it this morning, where it said the file scanner had a problem and to send it off to them.

I need to look into the Cloud AV. As I understand it you have to be on the internet for it to work. TM has some excellent results from all the tests I have seen. Yet it doesn't seem to be used by many on the forums.o_O

Good Morning! JerryM...I think the reason for the lack of ownership by forum members might be due to Trend's abysmal past performances. Having a functional product...user friendly Gui and useage is one thing...but having poor detection rates is another...and quite frankly I know the vast percentage of members at Wilders...are primarily concerned with detection effectiveness and cleanup abilities of any given application. At least that's my perception. Sincerely...Securon

Thanks for the replies. They help explain the lack of usage by members here.
I had thought that the detection rate for TM was low, and never even considered it when better ones, at least I thought, were available. At this point in time it has greatly improved its detection according to the tests I have seen.

    Thanks, again.

Doesn't it make use of the windows firewall? If so it's perfectly good.

    Hi all,

Yes trendmicro uses the windows firewall base with a booster, the
Firewall Booster feature is intended to provide network vulnerability detection and anti- botnet protection.

Firewall Booster has these key features:
Works with Windows Firewall, but runs independently. Enabling Firewall Booster does not enable the Windows Firewall, and Firewall Booster does not register itself to Windows Security Center (WSC).
Link to Window Firewall provided within the configuration setting
    Works with third-party firewalls
