Post Scan Action - Not Sticking

Running ESET 6.0 on Win 7.

I run a scan every evening. The post-scan action is set to shutdown which is does. On Friday, I sometimes want the system to take no action because I am running a backup job that may not complete before the scan completes. On those days, I use the Scheduler to modify the post-scan action to No Action and I save it. When I go back to verify the setting it indeed shows No Action. However, after the scan completed the computer shut down anyway. Even if I use the drop down selection on the running scan to change the action, it still doesn't change.

The change only seems to stick if I change it and reboot. I haven't done this a number of times to verify it. But the problem of the change to the option not sticking is repeatable.

Added: this option worked fine in v 5.

 

Maybe it's a bug, but it's a bit cumbersome to reproduce for me at the moment as it requires at least one shutdown.

However, as a workaround, why don't you create two scheduled tasks; one with the post-action set to Shutdown, and the other set to 'No Action', keep the first checked during the whole week, then on Friday, uncheck the first and check the other.

Maybe you'll even find this easier and faster than editing the single task every week and adjust the post-scan action and then re-save it.

It may be more difficult to reproduce. I tried it on a second computer and the action seems to work. I have to do more testing on that second computer when I have time to be sure, though.

Your idea of having 2 scan tasks is one that I will implement as a partial workaround. The only glitch to that plan is that sometimes I can't get to the computer to change which scan task is scheduled until after the scan has started. But I can try to arrange the timing so it is easier to do that.

As a workaround I set up the 2 tasks and used the weekly option in the scheduler to indicate which day of the week to run each one to correspond with my backup jobs that run on the weekends.

I'll have to wait until next weekend to see if this works for me.

 

Well, that seems like a good setup, I don't know why I didn't think of the weekly option.
