Please correct me if I'm wrong but does not auto-delete files on the latest version, but quarantine it? And it does not move the file, but lock it down?

Yes it won't delete anymore, and yes it locks the file.

I'd imagine the new version will get released tomorrow or Monday. Been a little over two weeks.

I've had Bitdefender stop responding twice. Pretty bad. I believe both times was after I exited the video game Blacklight: Retribution. Not sure if it creates a dump file I could submit.

Is there anyone running just this? I haven't been able to find a combo that works well with this (my usuals are mbam and zemena).

And not sure about running just this. Granted I am behind an Untangle box.

I've seen some comments on the light/heavy feel of this new BD in the past but nothing recent.

    What's it like?

    very light indeed.

It's not as light as WSA if that's what you were wondering :D ;)

I don't know anything as light as WSA.
I am however at a point where I decide in advance (3 months) whether I stay or move. As I posted elsewhere I am retired and got rid of credit cards.
This means I must buy from Amazon or Cleverboxes as they accept my debit card whilst WSA does not. This annoys me (my choice I know) but it still annoys me to have to pay almost double to renew.
    So..........

    Age has its limitations.

    No Paypal?

    Never bothered with Paypal.
    I must admit that £15 for a 3 user/1 year isn't bad if I had 3 PCs

Avast is running at about 8mbs so far. Its one of the lightest Avs I've ever ran. Back when I was using BFAV it was always at around 30-40mbs.

RAM is only a very small part of an AV feeling heavy or light, but it seems to be the part that is focused on most.

I think what's most noticeable is when it sucks up too much cpu, then you really feel it throughout the entire system. This one (BD Free) seems fairly light from what I remember... too much system scanning though, IMO. That seems to go on several times a day.

I disabled the auto-scan on my installs and I have received no complaints from any of the users, who are all of the average variety.

Yeah, I think I would have to do likewise if and when I were to use it again...

Since BD Free scans everything on access, I see no need to scan files that are just sitting there. The same goes for any AV though IMHO.........That's what MBAM and HMP are for. ;)

DBone, does turning off the Auto Scan lessen the protection? If not I may also turn it off.
