does anybody know of a program that will allow more than one image on the same page, where the program either allows the user to manually choose position and layout. in the past i had used a very old version of HP photosmart but this no longer works in windows 7.

    Hi Gazzer,

I think that FinePrint can do the job of printing for example two pictures on one page.
    http://fineprint.com/fp/
    It isn't free.
You may try the trial version (if it allows to do what you want).

I just did it from a very old laptop running XP-home SP3 to my printer HP DeskJet 970 Cxi, using FinePrint.

Could you explain in more detail?

FinePrint is a virtual printer. It can print a multi-page document so that there are two or more pages in one physical sheet of paper (to save paper). From what app did you print?

    Hi Robin,

Let's say I have a folder with two pictures: photo-1 and photo-2; size each about 10 MB.
I select both in Windows Explorer.
Right click > copy to FinePrint
In FinePrint I select "2 up".
Then I print it. The two pics are on one page.

PS: I don't know whether the other things, that Gazzer asked for, are possible in FinePrint.

I see, thanks. The command is "Sent to Fineprint" in my case. I have used FP for many years, but I wasn´t aware of this possibility.

You're welcome! And thanks to you for correcting my "copy to FinePrint" (I made the wrong "translation" from my Dutch version of Windows).

PS: It was after the original post that I decided to install FP again; I used it heavily a few years ago in combo with pdfFactory. Then I noticed that I had to upgrade my licence. A combined package (an upgrade for pdfFactory, and an offer for FinePrint) costed me about 29 Euro including 21% VAT; that was a good deal IMHO.

You can do the same thing with Microsoft Word (and probably other graphically based word processor programs.) The key is to formatting the photos so that they "float" on the page and don't interact with any text/paragraph formatting.

I use word also, and publisher too --- I add photos as watermarks [placing them as a header/footer] so they 'float' in the background; to acquire positioning rights, you need to change them to either 'behind text' or 'in front of text', depending on your needs.

    good luck :)

oh, I should have added that you can alter the size of the pix, click and hold to move them, and change the appearance, colour, and add borders etc also...

XP had the photo and fax viewer, which would allow you to do this. One disappointing thing of vista/7 is the removal of this tool.

    Hi,

PriPrinter is another like Fineprint, a bit more sophisticated. Also moderately pricey in paid mode, I just asked Bits to try to get one or both.

iPrint seems to be the leader for real simple multipage on one page fully freebies, with less other features than the two above.
