ESET Smart Security 6.0.314 has been released in all languages.

    Changelog:
    • Fixed: Outlook 2013 crashes and automatic send/receive feature not working
    • Fixed: Resolved issue with Anti-Theft not sending screen shots in specific cases
    • Fixed: Better error handling during during Anti-Theft configuration
    • Fixed: Minor issues after upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8
    • Added: SysRescue supports Windows 8

The new version is currently available only as stand-alone msi installers on the download page. It can be installed over older versions so that the settings are preserved.

Thanks, this version seems to have resolved the issues I was having with Outlook 2013 and ESET SS.

The off line installer is 20% smaller. Not the usual direction or typical percentage change for a minor version update.
    Has something else changed?

The reason for this is that the engine has been optimized in the mean time and the size of the base engine decreased from 33 MB to 24 MB.

    Hello!

Still can not update from v6.0.308.0 to v6.0.314 from main GUI. I hope it will be available soon.

    Thanks.

    Hello

Well ,the update will probably be pushed out to everyone before version 7 :D. As you know encus, you can always download it from eset.com itself. You can choose to install on top of your previous version number 6.0.308, but personally I prefer, and maybe it seems old fashioned , to do a clean install. Better control that way.

See you around , regards, Janus

    Hi Janus.

I certainly hope it won't be that long, since I once successfully updated from v6.0.306.0 to v6.0.308.0 via main GUI in the Program Update section (last month, as far as I can remember).

I agree with you, Janus. Clean install is the best method to update the program but I'm kind of lazy to do the settings all over again, since I don't totally use the default settings.

Thanks for your answer, Janus. Have a nice day :) .

    Just finished:

1- Uninstalled Avira Free + Comodo Firewall from (Win7x64) (do you know that on VBulletin's RAP Quadrant Avira AV Free performs better than ESET?, does'nt say what version though...)
2- Did a system clean up, not much to clean up, but just in case, removed all registry keys and values related tu avira and comodo.
3- Did a clean install of ESS 6.0.314

SAME RESULTS as when I did a 6.0.308 trial, everything works But when you go to the Computer Scan Page, and try to click on anything ESS freezes. JUST ESS, Rest of PC goes on, but to close ESS or get it back to normal I have to reboot.

Tried again with ESS 5.*** .... all works.

Why do I insist? Got a friend that is very much into IT who speaks of ESET as if you were GOD. And I am thinking in migrating to windows 8 and he said: you must have ESS

But at this rate..... I'll stay with FREE Avira and FREE Comodo FW or Go over to G Data that has nice specs on VBulletin.

PS: my Windows 7 is full up to date, runs flawlessly on a 4 core with 8 GB of ram on a RAID 0 array. And NO I will no go on with mini dumps or whatever, if it works it works, and if it works out of the box I BUY. If not nope.

EDIT: I just like to give feedback. Positive feedback is to BUY, corrective feedback is this comment.

EDIT 2: If I insert a removable device (pen drive) and scan it on ESS pop up it scans OK. Meaning: scanner IS working, "Computer scan" page is f.... up

Tried it. Same problem, have it installed as trial, i think it must be an egui.exe bug because ALL other modules work OK, Scanner also, if you initiate a scan from right click context menu or an removable drive prompt.

Freeze ONLY happens when I click on "Computer Scan" "tab". GUI freezes. Does not happen on other tabs.

I disabled self defense in advance options (disabling HIPS does no difference) so I can kill egui.exe (ekern not affected) and restart it.

If I initiate a scan from "Frequently Used" on "home" "tab" and then click on "Computer Scan" tab scanner goes on working even if egui is frozen.

Have you, or others you've conferred with seen improvement that you can speak of with the new engine?
Being lean and mean made me a lot more efficient fifteen years ago, seems that could apply to software too. I got 6.0.316 the day it came out and it's running smoothly here. Updated from just switching back to ESS just the day before.

From time to time, the engine is optimized and certain signatures are replaced with more sophisticated ones covering a wider group of malware variants. As a result of the optimization, the size of the engine is reduced.

    Thanks for the reply Marcos.

I'd switched to the red K soon after ESS v3 frustrated the he11 out of me.
The red slowed my rig way down since last summer. Couldn't log off, protection seemed to wait forever to start when logging on.

With ESS now the eye is there from the start, and my decently quick rig is acting that way again. I hope Eset never removes custom configuration from the install / setup.
