China to create home-grown operating system

    China is working with software firm Canonical on an open-source operating system customised for Chinese users.

    I suppose it's one way to avoid Windows 8!

    Those seem to be very good news to Canonical :)

    Funding from the China Government, and a market of millions and millions of users...

    This will be interesting. :D

    But then everyone will say China has a backdoor in that OS and is spying on all of its users. /Sarcasm

    This is true, but how will that be any different than Windows
    not that I condone that kind of behavior, Let's hope if this OS
    comes to be that it will be a good competitor without any backdoors

    I think that it is predominantly for the Mandarin/Cantonese speaking market & so unless you read Chinese, & if it's released outside of China, it probably won't be particularly useful. You would possibly be just as well off with Ubuntu.

    I believe the Chinese OS is called Fong Gu. Smile if you're Italian. :D
