Avast! 8 FP

I'm too lazy to submit this FP to proper forum.

As today, Avast! detect taskmgr.exe as a suspicious threat

Object: C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr.exe
Infection : Win32:Evo-gen [Susp]
Action : Moved to chest
Process : C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.exe

I set/add it exclusion list for temporary solution.

What's going on?

 

Everything is fine here....it is not detected on my machine.

 

Same here,None my XP Machines are reporting this issue yet

 

Just submit every FP's from virus chest ... There is not any problems ins't it ?

 

BTW, they will always fix FP's submitted from program, just be a bit patient.

Task manager EXE is often a target of malware. Considering others don't have this issue i'd say you are actually infected and avast! detected it now.
It's a non essential app so system will continue to function, you just won't be able to open Task Manager.

Use "sfc /scannow" command in Command Prompt and let it check the files.
If any of them is corrupted or infected it will replace it.

Otherwise, it really looks like an infected file - either straight infected, or incompletely cleaned from a former infection.

The number of badly cleaned files, even with most of the virus code left-overs that we pull from our own cloud is really huge. I guess it is one these. Interesting to see that Evo-Gen "loves" these files aswell.

I happy to tell you,I never get infected for last 4 years in this machine . Just safe surfing and always sandboxed or run SD

I am using WindowBlind as desktop customization over years. any chance WB skins packed by malicious or infected ?

Scan with HMP and MBAM,result NEGATIVE

Already submitted for further analysis.
