Okay, I was confused about what you meant by allowing things "inside the sandbox". I thought that on top of allowing compatibility perhaps you were allowing the programs, and/or parts of the programs yet more access in restrictions or whatnot. If you simply allow the compatibility for the program when it asks you whether or not to, then cool, you're good. Do nothing further.

And btw, I don't think you're crazy at all. And you seem to be doing well here.

If MBAM is still being scanned, even after avast! exclusions have been placed...I would report that to avast! so they can fix that. As far as slowdowns are concerned, I'm not experiencing any of that on my machines.

If you have avast! set to scan whole files, that could very well be your problem. If you do have that option enabled, try disabling it to see if scan speeds improve.

    Also...

Do you have a lot of files saved onto the hard drive? I'm thinking having those files sit there, avast and MBAM have more to scan...which in turn takes a lot longer for everything to finish.

No, was not allowing additional access. As I just told Bo, I think I am clear on that now. Thanks

Okay I added EMET 2.1 to my set up now. I had some problems with FF and EMET not working right and I tracked it down to the plugins container not playing nice with EMET. So now I only run FF and Foxit reader inside of my EMET.

    Set up again:
    - FortiClient 5.01 w/antiphishing and antimalware filter
    - EMET 2.1 w/ FF and Foxit
    - No Script, Adblock Plus, Self Destructing Cookies, Better Privacy, Disconnect me
    - Secunia PSI
    - UAC - minimal
    - Windows FW Default settings

I see. I've removed mbam. Not gonna go through investigating what's causing slowdowns and slow scannings. Not so patient. Now fast again.;)

No such problems with FF or P-C under EMET 3.5. The only thing I noticed was some ROP mit's couldn't be applied for FF & SBIE to play nicely together.

I have internet access blocked for P-C in both my FW & SBIE restrictions. Dunno if that would make a difference. Or it could be a difference between EMET versions (2.1 vs. 3.5). Or any number of things of course.

I'm using EMET 2.1 and FF just fine here with all mitigations applied to FF and Plugin container.

Yes but I think it depends what plug ins you got running. Some may not play nicely with EMET... This issue happened after I installed FortiClient AV which puts 2 plugins into FF. For some reason FF started acting out weird, as if almost my system was infected with a virus. Some weird menus started popping out with lots of FF options, etc... I re-imaged and reproduced the same problem with EMET installed. Without EMET I never ran into it again.

Thank you. I might try the newer version when I get a bit faster laptop next year or so. For now 2.1 has to suffice.

I used a slightly older version of Emsisoft for a while, it was ok. But one day I decided to uninstall it to run something else. It wreaked havoc on my box really messed up my registry after the uninstall. Sure hope that doesn't happen to you. Am using MBAM in it's place.
