dear mods, devs, ess6 knowitalls :)

'test is running.. It may take a few minutes to finish. Refresh' has been running for a half hour. it was the same last week and the week before.

I've done everything to set it up and all boxes are ticked; but this test facility!?!?

reading the help files, I wonder whether the 'test' and 'location' facilities only operate when the *my computer is missing* button has been pressed...

I'm wondering whether you need some new 'help file' authors...

    Test? You mean a scan?

Test will be running 'till any item will be send from device (ip, location, screenshot or webcam). If your device is not connected to internet (and therefore cannot send any data) or shut off, please connect it or start device.

    regards

Go into the SETUP portion of the ESET main window. Next to Anti-Theft choose disable perm then you will log in to the my.eset.com account. The Computer name should be deleted if not then click on the wheel and delete. Close out of the web page. Go back to the ESET main window and SETUP and next to Anti-Theft choose SETUP. Go through anti-theft setup again and see if this resolves the issue.

hi rusty, I should have read your post more closely; I did what you say last weekend. while all issues resolved as a result, running the test is the only sticking point...

I note however, that on the my.eset.com home page, the test is still running...

I must again abort that operation

k, so there's been some sexy results! and I say 'sexy' cuz, man, this anti-theft stuff is looking pretty sexy...

last week, after I left the computer to run 'the test', I returned to find this dialog box on my desktop; scared the bejayzuz out of me:

last week, I believe I hit the enter key with the 'no' button highlighted, and a screenshot [with the dialog depicted] appeared on my eset account...

so I ran the test again tonight and there it was, within a nanosecond; the same dialog box and this time I clicked 'yes' and again, within seconds, it reflected on my eset account but this time ALONG WITH another pic depicting the LG logo, indicating 'there is no available capture device'.

LG = Life's Good!??! if so --- très sexy!!!

so, what's left is 'no location available':

from reading the help files, I believe that by only pressing 'my computer is missing' will the anti-theft facility provide 'location' details. per:

despite me performing the tests, and making assessments about the help files, my eset main page still asks me to 'configure anti-theft'...

I do not like unfinished business...
