    Hi:

Anyone using the pointstone system cleaner or know anything about it being safe to optimize and clean my pc? Thanks in advance for your help.

I've never heard of this one personally, however when I see the term "optimize" and clean together I get somewhat nervous. These type of utilities have the potential to do more harm than good, but I'll reserve judgement until I see how people have fared with it.:doubt:

The registry cleaner can cause problems, but other than that it's safe, but there are btter system utilities available.

Well i suppose ccleaner had the same adverse comments when it first arrived on the scene and it now seems to be an accepted cleaner so i think pointstone deserves a fair crack of the whip to prove itself.

I get very weary of terms like "optimize" and "clean" and i was unsure of ccleaner when it first came out but now it is part of the fixtures and has proven to be reliable without causing issues.:D

Optimize your system and turn your 4 gigs of ram to 8 and make your hard drive go from 5400rpm to 7200rpm.I always wanted a program like that.

It seems not different from TuneUp Utilities, Advanced SystemCare, Glary Utilities....

I'm the owner of Pointstone Software, LLC and have been working on System Cleaner since 1996, when there were only a handful of similar utilities around.

While some of you haven't heard about us, we've been in business for over 16 years now and have always tried our best to deliver to most effective optimization software with each new release.

To answer the original poster question, System Cleaner is safe to use. We prompt the user to create a restore point before using the software and also provide the utility "Rescue Manager", which keep tracks of the changes made by System Cleaner, and allows you to easily undo them in case there's a need to.

We love to hear back from our users, so feel free to reply back or contact us directly via our support page with any questions, suggestions, or comments about any of our products.

This has been around for many years. I'm not sure when it was first released, but Pointstone started in 1996 so this is not a new product.

Yes, but CCleaner is safe to use - the registry cleaner gives absolutely zero false positives (as long as the check for obsolete software is disabled). On the other hand, Pointstone does give false positives. To be fair I haven't tested the latest release yet, but it did have problems in the past, including issues which I informed Pointstone about and they did not fix.

I've tried System Cleaner 7 on XP, Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 computers. It takes some time to learn it, because System Cleaner has so many different modules/utilities. Also, you can set System Cleaner on Automatic Maintenance and forget it.

It's only my opinion about System Cleaner 7.
The old XP computers with 0.5 GB and 1.0 GB RAM really started working faster.
Would I recommend System Cleaner here, at this, "Wilders Security forum"?
    No! It's a different audience.

Would I continue using System Cleaner 7.
    YES.

    There are some small issues.
For example, I cannot minimize the main System Cleaner Window.

Also, I tried "Disk Doctor" - Thorough Analysis, but could not complete it because after rebooting, my Windows 8 computer got stuck at "27% repaired" for more than 1 hour, and I decided to terminate the procedure.

I would be very careful trying to use Startup Optimizer.

I just install this as it is a while since I have tested it, and the program has changed quite a bit.

I ran registry scan and at least 15 of the errors found were false positives.

As a result I highly recommend not using this software as it has the potential to cause serious problems.

One would think that after 16 years of development, Pointstone could fix the registry cleaner.

    Roger,

Can you contact us with what you consider registry cleaner false positives so that we analyze your results?

    Thank you.

Yes. Is there any way to get a log file of the errors found, to save me time in giving you the list of false positives.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

We do have a debug mode available, but it only saves the registry entries to a text file when doing a repair, not when scanning.

Can you take a screenshot of the results where the false positives appear?

To send the screenshot(s) back to us, please use the following page (Select the General or Technical Support departments):

    Thanks again!

Thanks for reply, but on my win 7 ultimate 32bit pointstone system cleaner would show a bunch errors most of the time when I ran it or did actions. Windows pop error boxes. Too much headache for me so I had uninstalled it.

To tell the truth I was not impressed by it.

Thanks for your feedback. Were you able to submit a bug report back to us or you didn't get a dialog asking to submit the error back to us?

Why can't I minimize the main System Cleaner window on any Windows OS?

This issue will be fixed on Monday when we release a new build of System Cleaner. You'll be able to update to the latest version using the built-in LiveUpdate utility.

    Thank you for your feedback!

Any chances of "ProActive Defrag/Constant Defrag"?
Any chances of "Empty Space Defrag", or "Intellegent Defrag/Defrag and Optimize"?

The best system optimizer on the market is plenty of disk space and a little more ram the you will actually use and don't get malware and your system usually stays good all on its own with a little maintenance every so often.:D Thats my experience of course.I never seen any miracles from any so called optimizer - registry cleaners but have seen damage caused by some.

We have planned more defrag algorithms which should be introduced with newer versions of System Cleaner.

Did you took those defrag algorithms ideas from another software? If so, care to share which one (even if via PM)?

I have to chime in here on one point:

Every rogue product ever has had no ability to do a scan and save a text log for independent review PRIOR to actually attempting the cleanup.

As far as I am concerned pre-cleanup saving of a plain text log is a mandatory component of all legit tools that are designed to make system changes.
