Time For Watching Baseball

Ah spring, when a young man's fancy turns to baseball. More specifically, it turns to getting a certain channel on my Roku streamer in real time instead of having to wait for the game replay 90 mins after the game has finished. The service checks my IP address to see if I'm in the game blackout zone. Anyone ever gotten around the blackout restrictions? If yes, feel free to post your solution, or pm me. Thanks! AirVPN is the fastest that I've seen.

TorrentFreak's 2013 review lists many others. And there's also BolehVPN, which is great.

But the key thing for you, I think, will be finding a VPN service with an exit IP address that Roku streamer will accept, and which will allow that sort of traffic through its exit in that country.

You'll probably need to experiment, using trial VPN subscriptions.

In my whole life there has never been a time where I have ever even watched baseball once. I have a Roku player myself, I did not notice any VPN options on it, you may have to set-up DD-WRT on your router if you have a DD-WRT enabled one.

 

Oh, I didn't realize that a "Roku player" was a physical machine.

If so, using VPNs would require a router running DD-WRT, pfSense, etc.

Im glad someone started a thread about this. I am trying to set something up with no luck. I have DSL for my internet my ISP provides a wireless router/modem. The router and modem are built all into one. I can not install DD-WRT on it. So I have tried linking another wireless router to the ISPs router/modem and installing DD-WRT. When I try to connect to my VPN via OpenVPN on the DD-WRT it doesnt work I either get a connection error or nothing at all in my logs on DD-WRT. Im not really sure how to get this to work with this setup. Im assuming it has to do with the ISP router/modem blocking it in some way or something network wise not setup right. I have spent hours trying to figure it out.

Anyone have any suggestions? I can just hook up my computer to the Tv but I was hoping to just be able to use my Roku. I had also thought about getting a cable to hookup my Iphone to the tv. I can connect to my VPN on my Iphone and play the blacked out games that way. Not sure how good the quality would be though. Any thoughts?

 

Does the DD-WRT router work without OpenVPN? That is, when the WAN interface of the DD-WRT router is connected to the LAN interface of the ISP's router/modem, can a computer connected to the LAN interface of the DD-WRT router see the Internet?

If it can't, possible fixes include using a crossover cable, and putting the ISP's router/modem in bridge mode. Does your aDSL connection use a password login?

I'm not familiar enough with DD-WRT to help figuring out what it won't connect
