Now that i think of it, this change will also affect Hitman Pro which basically licenses G-Data.

FYI, the new G Data in-house engine is called CloseGap. This is from the G Data UK site:

The generation 2014 of G Data solution for private users convinces with new user interface, improved performance, and the new, proprietary active hybrid protection "CloseGap". It takes over the tasks of the second engine and in addition it provides extra security with faster, more efficient scanning technology.

I really hope CloseGap is not a sandbox/virtual system. My love for G-Data is its reactive detection. Getting rid of one engines signatures for a Sandbox would suck.

Do you have a link to the USA version? Strangely the ENG one does not work with my legitimate USA key.

Yes, that's what happened to me. I assume since my product key was for USA version that it would not work on the ENG version. I tried it anyway and it did not work, so assuming its regionally locked.

Had the same access data problem as you guys did. Installed over the top of IS 2013, and it picked up my license, but wouldn't update, showing the not valid box. A clean install was also a no go...

Nope, USA version is clearly labled USA every version so far.

    ENG_R_FUL_CeBit2013_2014_IS.exe

    Would normally be.

    USA_R_FUL_CeBit2013_2014_IS.exe

ENG is for the "UK" version, I know because I remember when buying the USA key for 2013, my USA key would not work when it was the ENG version.

I am not sure why but this is most generally true.

I would normally agree completely, which is why I highlighted that particular section of the attachment I posted in blue. First time I've seen that.

This is a trial version spread during CeBIT - this may cause the access data problem.
Uninstall, reinstall and select 'trial regestration/installation' during setup.

Both manual and auto-updates fail each time, unfortunately. Going back to 2013 for now.

If I may ask, is this version is still in beta or RTM or it's just temporarily placed in the beta section?

You can really install this version - it's working just fine :)
But select 'trial' during setup, so you will be able to update the virus signatures.
It may be that common access data won't work for this version at the moment.

    Cheers,
    Ford

I see this links to an international version...I'm guessing this would allow a choice of languages to pick from on install? Do you know if there will be localized versions released, or if G Data is going to stay this route?

Is it normal for the setup to be 300mb+? I thought they dump Avast?

Securon, this appears to be the final release. marciocruz posted the links as final, and in the past, any G Data beta downloads I've seen included the word beta on the install .exe...which none of these installers have. Install went fine, with several language options offered. Accepted my user name & password without a hitch. Feels a bit lighter, and the initial full scan took almost 15 minutes less than the 2013 did. Liking it so far..:thumb:
