Not every user is an avast fanboy, I think it's time to accept it. :doubt:

It is what it is. If you don't like it, then tough luck. 180 million users are using it so clearly no one can satisfy everyone. It's just not possible.

Would having a 180 million users make it more of a target for malware writers?

Yes, but with special systems that analyze malware also means that more users means you get protected from more malware. So it's a tradeable thing...

Are you proud or sore that they've started using your Avast Gold Edition avatar? (j/k)

Not according to av-comparatives..According to their results Avast! is pretty average even some AV'S with less users beat it, so bang goes you're theory of more users means better protection.

Actually no.With the new technology coming avast,s way, when someone gets infected with a new malware the 180m users benefit so there is safety in numbers that way.

That may have been true for pre 2013 versions... AV-C or in fact any other testing org hasn't yet tested the new avast! and based on what we've seen, proactive protection should be through the roof now.

My statement wasn't wrong, you claimed that more users means better protection via the cloud, well if that's the case what happend all of last year on AVC tests? I assume Avast! had plenty of users then.

    Code:
More users >>> better protection believe it or not it's like that.
I repeat: What happend the whole of last year if more users mean better results??

Please dont forget that other av vendors have several million users.Kaspersky has 300million confirmed users. The list could go on so in that respect the high number of users is an irrelevant issue and the protection depends on the efficiency of the cloud and the av engine involved.

I'm looking forward to seeing v8 on AVC and for what it's worth I really hope it does do well.

Last year Auto Sandbox wasn't doing much at all, there was no Evo-Gen system, there was no FileRepMalware detections etc etc.

Even though all the tech was supposedly there, it really got activated this February.

I'm also looking for the real-world tests because everything else is everyones waste of time. Files need to be actually exectuted these days to get a real-world results so i wonder why they even bother with on-demand tests and other nonsense that tells nothing to anyone anymore.

Off-topic posts (including more YouTester links and some unnecessary arguments) have been removed.

I think we've beat the GUI commentary to death now, especially since we've moved back to AV testing discussions again.

    So, thread closed.
