refers my earlier post in the matter : https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=326397

recently found that the mouse cursor jumps on my computer, in erac windows, each time when i click on tabs - clients, threat log etc., due to a mouse setting : control panel/mouse/mouse properties/pointer option tabs/ automatically move pointer to the default button in a dialog box [checked].

if i uncheck that, the mouse cursor stops jumping.

now this needs to be corrected, because, the mouse cursor has no business to jump i click on the tabs, because this action does not call for any "default button", and there is no dialog box too.

all versions of erac so far are effected, and on all windows versions.

Unfortunately, this is something that cannot be fixed as it occurs due to the complexity of the ERA gui.

    @ marcos.
not satisfied. complexities result in unmanageable code. is that what you are indicating ?

    Hello,

It is possible this behavior might be changed in a future version of the ESET Remote Administrator Console software, however, handling the order of tabbed elements in dialogs, not to mention the actions within them is complicated for a program as complex as ESET Remote Administrator Console's user interface is a major undertaking. And that doesn't include all the rewriting, editing and proofing the online help and documentation would require.

While the developer impact is high in terms of of developer time, it's an an even larger amount of QA time to completely re-verify the software's functionality, to ensure it worked as it should in all the different language editions under all the supported versions and languages of Windows at various screen resolutions.

While it may be simple to toggle this feature on and off within Microsoft Windows, adapting the software's behavior is a wholesale UI change and beyond the scope of what can be done for the current version of the software. It would basically require a complete re-testing of the entire product by the QA department, which is a multi-week (or even multi-month) process.

What I would suggest in the meantime as a workaround is to look and see if there is a way to programatically toggle the Snap To functionality under Windows, and, if so, create a script which disables the functionality, runs the ESET Remote Administrator Console, and then enables the functionality when the application is exited.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky
