Probably like all banking protection. It's marketing buzz & spin, it's probably flawed technology.

Yes. And for that we can mention WSAs Identity Shield like an example wich is said to protect against them.
But you have stated before (several times) that you don't believe such technology works so we leave it at that.

Yes, we all know that AV cannot protect against those attacks but dedicated software (Trusteer Rapport, to make another example) or banking options in security tools (e.g. Kaspersky SafeMoney) will protect against these attacks. Saying the contrary is just misinforming users.

 

Could somebody please explain how this safe banking hype is actually tested to be effective.?What do they do issue a "dummy" theft to see if it works.And if your cash gets stolen do you think the security companies are going to cough up your lost cash.?

I never do online transactions ever and dont plan to do so either.

I personally don't use any of this safe banking stuff currently (if my security solution would include one I probably would use it), since I feel that if my PC is clean, clean browser, bank security token, and using a secure https connection to the bank, i'm OK at least for now.

To be honest, the chance that I would get robbed on the street feels more likely these days than something bad would happen during the bank session.

Jokes aside,i always pay bills either in person or over the phone,Never online.
Robbed in sweden.?.i doubt that.nice clean respectable country.

A good password manager that scrambles your main login keystrokes is a start. It will log you in to the proper site and won't leave info that key loggers and screen scrapers can find.

We are talking about security features to better protect users against specific malware targeting financial information. Some do some not. Some works good some less and the OP was trying to get info on GDATA bank features. But this thread rapidly derailed into "all is crap" ... and the like.

 

Over the phone how does that work? (sounds time consuming and more expensive than doing it yourself online )
I have never heard of such service and we have never used one in our family.

Maybe it's a respectable country, but I see that the attitude among the young ones 15-20 years of age have changed during the last 10-15 years, not only in Sweden though.

 

The specifics probably vary from bank to bank. In the case of my own bank, you dial a special number, are instructed to input your full bank card number, and then are given a menu of options. All input is digital. I prefer online since that way I can see what I've entered, plus if I want to add a payee to my list I can do so directly, without having to go through a service rep.

But yeah as you say, doing it online seems a bit more easy as you can see what you are doing so to speak.
