SRP Versus UAC in Win 7

Hello,

I am just starting my research into this and I am lost at the moment.
First, a little background.

I am just going to a Win 7 Pro box from a Win XP Pro system. I have always used a SRP of not allowing exe's in my LUA. Since I am not familiar with Win 7 UAC, I do not know the best way to proceed with setting up my security.

What is the basic difference between UAC and a SRP in Win 7? (other than a pop up notice asking permission with UAC)

Can I run UAC at max with a SRP?

Or is it best just to stick with one or the other?

Thank you and any suggestions are appreciated as this will guide me into what I need to research.

 

They're both very different technologies. UAC works with integrity levels, file system and registry virtualization and the Protected Admin (PA) account to allow programs to run properly without the need for administrative rights.

SRP controls which programs are allowed to run and from where they're allowed to run.

Yes, you can use both SRP and UAC together, with the latter at maximum setting, quite nicely and recommended, imo.
