sandboxie v4 out Jan 10, 2013

I don't think anyone is rushing as much as they are just excited to see it finished. I know there are a lot of things I am anxious to get my hands on, but it takes as long as it takes. I expect the final to be pretty good, I personally have had no issues with the beta.

I too am on win8 x64. Whether I'm happy or not to wait isn't really relevant, it will be ready when its ready.

Tzuk's betas are normally as good as most others final releases but not this one. Why? simple, this version is fundamentally different from its predecessors. Those like me who have followed this products development for years will know some of the the other betas have went months and gone to versions .15 and more. I don't believe this one will be all that different.

Simply put - patience fellow SBIE activists it will be ready when its ready. Tzuk cannot support a release that is not ready for the big time. Experience has taught me to trust Tzuk in these matters, I suggest others do the same.

Yes, excellent!

But, having said the above, he needs to come out soon supporting Windows 8, as Windows 8 was long, long time in development and has now been out for a good while too.

According to the first post in this thread, most of the changes being implemented in how SBIE works are to make it work better with Windows 8 and future generations of Windows. I think that's great and should make people that uses Windows and Sandboxie happy.

I would install the stable 3.76 version now and when the new version comes out, just do an over the top installation as I always do.

I agree. Also, there is no need to rush anything as Sandboxie works great now, the new version is really for the future. Tzuk is looking ahead.

Thank you for the above links. I don't have Windows 8 on my machines. I do have the lifetime paid version of Sandboxie. The current version I am using is v3.74.

In past when I have ran the compatibility test of Windows 8 on my machines, it always gave that Sandoxie v3.74 is not compatible with Windows 8. It then takes one to the Sandboxie website but not to any information there. Other incompatible programs it takes one to the solutions on their websites.

Since you are using 3.74, "you can safely disregard" the warning and start using SBIE after install is over.

Also, the Avast compatibility settings got fixed, making Avast and SBIE 4.01 get along better.

running current version 3.76 on two windows 8 and two windows 7 all running just dandy.I will upgrade when the new version is ready,Since the wife and kids are the primary users of the windows systems,I rather not push them into beta testers.

 

I realize that v4.01 is a beta and that it probably shouldn't be run on a 'production' system - which I have been doing...
...so I shouldn't be too surprised that my system is crashing at least once a day (when sandboxed).

I'm going back to v3.76 - which ran near perfect.

Not here. It bogs-down IE9 (big time)! So like Wendi I'm reverting to v3.76 (which runs MUCH better on my laptop).

 

As mentioned earlier, in my testing of v4 it crashed IE9, especially when attempting to open new tabs! Has anyone else noticed that?

Using betas .01 and .02, IE9 in my W7 32 bits ran just fine. I ll probably try .03 later this weekend. Did you get a message from SBIE?

Its a great program and worth waiting for.

 

I noticed a somewhat similar issue with v4.01.03, however IE9 did not crash in my situation. In my case when I opened a new tab I couldn't open any websites that were shown as boxes under the new tab (if that makes any sense). I noticed this on a couple different occaisions.

I am using latest beta... using Windows 8 x64.

I'm trying to force applications opened from desktop into a certain sandbox... but they won't start automatically in the sandbox even though I added the folder as forced. I have to manually open them into the sandbox by right-clicking the file. I never experienced this problem before with older versions of Sandboxie in Windows 7 x64.

Anyone having a similar issue?
