My browsers, Chrome, IE8,and FF 19, all work sandboxed, and I can print from it. However, in FF the toolbar does not show sandboxed. I had been thinking that when the license expired I would go to KISS as I have one that will accept 3 computers. However, Avast 8 Pro is running well now and I might keep it.:thumb:

Good to hear Jerry. I have yet to install the final release. It seemed to get released rather quickly!

I hope we can find some specials to buy Avast in the coming months. 50% is not too good a deal when compared with the ebay prices of Norton and KAV/KIS. I have not had problems with ebay AVs.

I prefer darker GUI like older version, new GUI is just 'too much white" for me
Can i get my darkness back ?

I spoke too fast. I am finding that at least Chrome cannot connect to the internet on my wireless machine when sandboxed

Definitely liking the new interface, and I've always liked how Avast's resource usage is so low. Also neat that they included a software updater in this version - very useful for folks who can't be bothered to keep their systems patched (or who have grown tired of keeping up with Adobe/Oracle's patch madness). :p

    Good work Avast devs!

I'm glad they included the software updater, as out of date software is a major security risk.

Trying it. Running light in windows 8 x64:)

I am not clear about the option "Protect package with a password" under settings. When I enabled it I didn't get an option to enter a password:doubt:

Don't you mean "Protect avast! with a password" under the Password section? Make sure you enter a password and check the appropriate boxes in PROTECTED AREAS.

You're looking at this feature under "Settings->Maintenance". This is not a program password protection but a password protection of the support package, the one that is meant to be submitted to the avast! team when you encounter a problem and you want to report it.

You can lock the program through "Settings->Password".

To activate software updater you need premiere version so that it autoupdates the older versions, right?

Then settings (top corner) - software updater - 2 options are there, second option is selected & mentions if possible Avast will download the updates silently without asking for permission, what is this option for?

Though the software database is severely lacking. On my system it detects only java and 7-zip. For comparison, Secunia PSI list 78 programs on the same machine.

    RejZoR's Custom avast! Configuration Profiles

I've made 4 custom configuration profiles for avast! v8.0 for quick and easy configuration.

    There are for profiles:
    RejZoR's avast! Config (SuperSilent)
    Minimal possible interaction

RejZoR's avast! Config (PUP enabled) <--- this is what i use
Basically default configuration with few extra tweaks and with PUP enabled for shields as well

    RejZoR's avast! Config (ControlFreak)
avast! will ask you for every required action

RejZoR's avast! Config (ParanoidControlFreak) - ONLY FOR ADVANCED USERS!
avast! will ask you for every required action with Behavior Shield also set to "Ask". Expect many popups as this enables HIPS like functionality!

Please read the included README file for more detailed descriptions of each.

    PACKAGE DOWNLOAD:

I hope it will be useful for those who just don't want to dig through piles of settngs but want a well balanced avast! configuration.

This what I am looking for. Thanks:)

Are there any privacy concerns relating to avast? In the eula it is said that user's information will be used to make offers relating to other software. Also any idea about automatic submission of detected malware to avast? Does it submit only application files or MS office & pdf documents also?:doubt:

Oh for god sake. Why was there a need to change the font size? I made it big so you don't have to look for it like a moron through countless pages that will follow. The link was of course truncated by the forum and because Ronjor changed the thread i now can't fix the URL. Mega fail ruining my thing...
