Best online tests for personal firewalls?

I'm looking for a better firewall test than ShieldsUp to recommend to others who worship GRC. Shouldn't be too hard.

I'm just wondering what others (with more security testing experience) find most thorough. I checked the ones listed here (http://www.wilders.org/free_services.htm) but am curious if there are other good ones not listed. Maybe something fairly new? So far my fav is DSL Reports (http://www.dslreports.com/tools).

Thanks. That is a good test site. Takes a while to go through since you have to so it in a linear series of questions. Good explanations at each point, tho.

 

Thanks Claire. I do like PCFlanks. I believe it's one of those listed on the Wilders page referenced above. IMO it's probably a tie or close second to DSL Reports.

I have used shields up a lot.Lately I have tried pcflank and it seems to have more tests.pcflank is my preference now,though I don't think that shields up is bad either.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I was hoping someone had found a comparison of the thoroughness and effectiveness of the top few really detailed online tests. Like DSL Reports and Hackerwhacker or better (not ShieldsUp). If someone knows of such an article or review by a security site I'd love to see it. Closest I've found is in Langa's Good And Bad Online Security Check-Ups
at http://www.informationweek.com/841/langa.htm. It's rather outdated and doesn't include many tests, tho.

IMHO, ShieldsUp and other very, very basic tests of extremely common ports aren't worth using since there are others which are far more exhaustive. I no longer recommend such tests because their limited scope gives a false sense of security. I prefer to use a more complete test first, then refer to basic sites for simplified background info if needed.

So anyway, I'd really appreciate any articles articles comparing tests in a quantified, objective way.
