Android Endpoint Security & SD Card

According to the specs for Android Endpoint Security an SD Card is required. I am looking to install it on an Android tablet with gigabytes of internal storage but no SD card slot. Problem?

 

Since this is supposed to be the "official" support forum I am asking if Android Endpoint Security can be installed on Android devices that don't have an SD card fitted.

I installed it on a 16GB Google Nexus 7 which does not have an SD Card without any problems noted.

My suggestion,though, would be to contact your local ESET office, distributor or reseller and request an evaluation copy to verify device compatibility with your Android tablet.

OK. I have a couple of spare licences so I don't need to ask for an evaluation copy.

Anyway, I installed it on a Samsung 64 GB GT-P7500 without any problems, entered the licence details, ran the update and then used the browser to download eicar.txt. The file was quarantined as expected.

One criticism. I couldn't find the virus signature date and version anywhere so I can't really verify that it is up to date.

I actually could not understand the reason why the product system requirements said that that an SD card is required. The only possible reason that I could think of was a restriction on file system support but even that didn't make sense.

Oops, I just realized I had the home edition of ESET Mobile Security installed on the tablet. I will install ESET Endpoint Security for Android to confirm what I told you earlier about device support.

The request to show the virus signature database version and date has been forwarded to product management.

It could be that the requirement for an SD card (SDHC, SDXC, Micro SD and so forth) was part of the original specification for the software and was later changed, or it might refer to the fact that the program scans the card for threats. I am checking on this.
