I should mention that I did encounter some kind of conflict/issue with BD Free, OA Free and Firefox. When OA is removed, it disappears. Firefox was just hanging periodically, and also wouldn't exit when I quit it, had to kill it in task manager. So I crossed OA off my list. Might try PrivateFirewall if I get bored this evening and see how it does with BD... I think the real problem is that the firewalls try to do so much nowadays, so the chances of conflicts are much greater..

I've ran into the updating issue that was mentioned earlier in this thread. Last updated at 1:18 p.m. and now it's 3:08 p.m. and no update. Which brings me to the conclusion, should I also install a companion AV like Kingsoft or Immunet?

Why on earth would you want to do that?
Apparently bitdefender has the best detections according to the testing organisations ,so installing another av with inferior detection rates seems a futile operation in my opinion.

Look at ZA free antivirus,it only updates once a day and there users are happy with this.

That isn't a problem. Why would you think no updates for 2 hours is a problem? The previous problem was no updates for 3 days because they were in the process of relocating. Things are back to normal now....

Guess I'm being paranoid now because every time I checked it would update every hour. All is well.

    Thank you.
But actually im not totally correct on this as no antivirus on its own will catch everything so a second cloud scanner maybe an added extra.I too have been looking at kingsoft cloud but i shall wait until the new version has been released.

But it's just two hours between them. :D No you don't need a second companion AV with BD it may cause more problems it will do good.

Kingsoft may be compatible with BD. But BD may not be as compatible with Kingsoft.

FYI ESET updated around noon today and then again in the evening. Nothing wrong with that and nothing to worry about at all.

Its a great forum with some nicely educated people on here who give polite impartial advice without resorting to personal snide remarks like you find on other forums and opinions on here are respectfully listened to in a mature and adult fashion with no prejudice incurred or referenced.
I am a strong believer in the freedom of speech whether it is in a forum or in a public place.
It is this very freedom of speech that has given us much progression in thought and ventures and wilders is no different and it is truly wonderful to read educated posts on varying subjects without hostility or segregation of any form.:D :D

Yes. I don't like forums where people are criticized for asking questions that may seem stupid or obvious. To me it's counterproductive to the conversation and spreading of great ideas. :)

I will go to CHina soon.

Is BD free fully compatible with a VPN connection?

Whoever said that BD Free doesn't do well with the firewalls is right I think. Just tried PrivateFirewall with BD and that was a total disaster, it actually completely locked up Windows itself on reboot after install and eventually got a black screen with just a cursor. Couldn't access anything before that either.

Looks like just BD Free alone is best....

Privatefirewall was probably more to blame for that as it does freeze upon install and heaven knows why.:argh:

I had to remove Comodo and use Windows built-in firewall. No problems, go figure. Since Windows firewall isn't nearly as good as Comodo. That's why I'm putting my trust in BD to do whatever the basic firewall can't.

Yeah, I remember hearing about that somewhere.. I'd have to install it without BD to know for sure....

Has anyone tried it with NoVirusThanks EXE Radar Pro? That seems like it would be a powerful combo if they worked together.

I regret not using this AV sooner. Keep up the awesome work, Bitdefender.

Yep, I've installed it on all but one of the machines that I maintain for my family/friends. The only reason I didn't install it on my work machine is the no restore issue with the current build (have a ton of work files that I can't take a chance with), but as soon as they sort that out, it will go on that machine too.

On my main personal machine (see my sig), I don't use an AV, but if I did it would be BD Free. :thumb:

I can't imagine them taking too much longer to get the restore feature sorted out, and when they do it will be close to perfect.

Hard to believe one of the top of the line antivirus programs is available for free.
