    Since some experience this and others do not (while running the same OS and SD version), I can't help but believe it's due to conflicts with specific apps. Perhaps if we could identify the apps which exhibit those setting changes, advising Tony of them, it might help.

    Exactly -

    Of those who have experienced problems, who don't have one or more of the following app's installed: -
    *an antikeylogger;
    *Sandboxie;
    *Task Scheduler turned on;
    *WSA

    Just seeing if there is a common app' or set of app's and it's a complete leap in the dark... :doubt:

    It seems that the last two builds of SD has a major conflict on my Sony Laptop. I thought it was a conflict again with WSA, and SD but I don't have WSA installed anymore. My Laptop will not boot after upgrading from SD V 1.1.0.325 to SD V1.2.0.368 or SD V 1.2.0.370. I'm using the latest version of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver. Latest Video drivers etc.. Could someone give me an ideal on to trouble shoot this to narrow down what the conflict is? I have the Laptop configured to generate a kernel memory dump, but i'm not getting any kind of memory dump. No BSOD's. After I login it stops responding before making it to the desktop. I'm using the same HD that came with the Laptop. An ATA Samsung.

    Well, its a Sony Laptop that came with a Samsung HD. Not sure it would suffer from that, but maybe. I will look into it. Thanks Feandur!

    Personally I think it's due to SD unloading its driver/dumping its cache on reboot at the same time that some apps are still writing. Consequently, half of what the app has written goes into the SD cache, half gets written to the real disk. Result - corruption.

    If this is true, I wonder if there would be different results for people if they choose to exit shadow mode on shutdown?

    How do you force to exit shadow mode on shutdown?

    From the Help: "If you select 'Exit Shadow Mode when shutdown' the volume will exit Shadow Mode automatically when OS reboot or shutdown."

    Sorry, but I was just going by the dialog thinking it would exit on shutdown, not restart. I really don't understand the Hlp statement bu I am glad you looked and posted. Maybe, it just means that when exit shadow mode on shutdown, it just shuts down the computer instead of exiting before shutdown.

    Twice now in the last 7 or 10 days when exiting shadow mode on shutdown, my AV has been corrupted where I have had to do a repair install to get the AV fully working again...

    I had that problem with NOD 32. It was because I had the Eset folder in C:\ programs excluded. SD was not at fault. I unexcluded the folder and I had no more problems. I'm on my iPhone so I don't have time to explain what caused the corruption.

    Sooo, where is this option? And would it help to have a similar option to ensure running processes terminate before SD exits out of Shadow Mode?

    I don't think it is Tony. Someone has taken over and now with all those updates to SD, we are having all those problems. It is no longer reliable.

    I good program needs to be beta tested, and not create corruption on live system.

    I might be wrong.

    Best regards,

    If you are on Windows 8, make sure to turn off fast startup.

    I haven't had any problems in my W7/XP 32 bits computers but since I am using SBIE and nothing else like a Firewall, AV or HIPS, I think Sandboxie can be excluded from being suspected of having a conflict with SD.

    I am not using SD everyday but for the first couple of weeks that I had the program, I did use it constantly without issues. The only version that I have used is .346.

    Using v.325 with Vista and XP, I never had any issues. I'm also relying on Sandboxie alone. With version .346 my Vista machine would not shut down and hung forever. It was not happening at every session but it was fairly frequent. I didn't think at the time it was due to a conflict.

    using all versions of SD since .325, now using .370; alongside lot of security apps , never has any issue yet.

    not to say, i cleaned my laptop from all useless crap installed at origin, tweaked my services and autoruns.

    No issues whatsoever here either. During the last three years I have introduced SD to countless customers and friends whose systems sported a wide variety of very different hardware and software configs. I have to say that I have never experienced loss of settings for any apps. This problem is certainly not as widespread as some of us may think - but of course this is no consolation for the ones who have experienced this issue.

    SD v1.2.0.370 has been running perfectly on my W7x64 laptop which uses an HDD and mSSD (for caching) in a RAID config. I have not observed any settings issues with IE9, my NIS firewall, or anything else for that matter! :thumb:

    PS. My only 'complaint' is that it takes too many mouse-clicks before shadow mode finally gets enabled! ;)

    Good point Cruise. Seems that a few (simple) GUI changes would do the trick.

    Hi,

    Had SD .346 installed on my win 7 x64 with ssd and no major issues here. I only enable shadow mode when I come online (thanks sir cyberman). I don't use ram write cache in it at all. The only thing I have notice that reverted back to its original setting is Java, the one found in the control panel (unchecked the autoupdate before but it still checked again) but its no biggie I guess.

    I only have some apps installed atm. RB Rx, SD .346, Sbie free, Eset 6 and Mbam Pro. I use mainly portable apps via usb. Been reading a lot and others have problems, my guess would be conflict just like others already said.

    In time all will be ironed out / sorted and SD will still be one of the best (for me) and others. :)

    Best Regards,
    Cj

    That's a good move CJ, especially when using Rollback RX as well. I'm always using portable apps when they are available. This way my Windows partition stays trimmed and free from unnecessary installations. I run them from a different disk so they can be used regardless of which snapshot is currently loaded.

    There is another benefit to this: Since they reside on a different disk, updating them to latest versions doesn't interfere with C: or its snapshots.

    Thank you for the knighthood son! I feel like a Python on the hunt for the Holy Grail :thumb: :D

    Thanks sir Cyberman. :) Yup, portable apps are better as they are light. Likewise, I don't install much now because I hate cleaning remnants in the end..

    Btw forgot to ask, what version of SD are u using sir, is it 325 still or the newer version?

    Arcanez,

    My head is swimming after watching that presentation (besides not understanding the language)! o_O

    Am I to conclude that SD protected his system against 4 out of the 5 'bad guys' (i.e., somehow 1 of them got through SD)?

    Thanks,
    Cruise
