Hardly exciting.

 

At least this - if by this we are referring to Ubuntu phone OS - may be summarized as "Linux" ("theoretically") without creating major confusion (unlike Android).

 

I think I'll buy both these when they come out, genuinely interested.

Apps will come gradually. It,s just announced, how can you expect apps ATM. BTW too me milions of apps no is useless. I don,t use more than ten apps for my day to day use.

 

BTW I am disappointed by minimum hardware requirements, dual core for consumer tabs and quad core for enterprise tabs isn,t too much?

 

Any Ubuntu program that runs on desktop Ubuntu will run on the new tablet. With a unified user interface, there will be a seamless Ubuntu experience across platforms whether you use a PC, laptop, netbook or tablet/smartphone.

That is what Canonical is aiming to deliver in the future.

 

Isn't that programs that run on a desktop ubuntu can run on the ubuntu tablet? Otherwise, I don't understand.

 

The intention is to have a familiar Ubuntu experience no matter what device you use. The OS and programs on it will look and work the same.

 

In practice, it isn't that simple atm. Several adjustments need to be made.

I barely use apps on my devices if ever and the more famous apps for the generic consumer would probably be installed by default anyway (gmail, youtube, facebook etc) so no need for a massive app repository for me.

Some things strike me curious though like the lack of home screen and apps left running in the background with seemingly no easy way to end them to conserve some battery. Messages/ notifications aren't as organized as well judging from the preview vid and vids of ubuntu phone.

 

Problem is not dual core or quad core main is it support Cortex A15 which is very new chip
