Good Afternoon ! Seems the majority of Vendors have succumb to Windows 8 Metro-Itis...or Grade School Graphics 101...Creativity at it's most fertile. Sarcasm intended. But the main emphasis is in Detection and Prevention...this too me is of Ultimate Importance...and the Development of G-Data's new engine. Stay tuned...hopefully the best is about to come. Yes it is a ridiculous release scheme. They don't need to be in such a hurry condisering it's an AV and not a browser

 

Competition is hard it's maybe what they think, who knows. Last year, their v.2013 Final was released around April!

 

Yes competition sure is hard, but having this release schedule will not change their product in any way, it won't get any better or worse for that matter only because they feel that they need to be the vendor that has released the 2014 products first.

That's why vendors that use the year as the version number should go back to using 7.0., 8.0 or what ever. It's all about marketing as it is today

 

This move towards Windows8 looking interfaces is disgusting. It will be hilarious when Windows8 fails, and these interfaces are forever dated to this time period.

Sort of like the Windows95 look programs had, which looked hilarious on Win98SE machines. I tend to uninstall anything that with hideous metro look.. AVG has it, and looks atrocious.

 

Technically speaking, Windows 8 can't be defeated by previous versions, performance wise. It's just their questionable metro look, which I rarely use, the cause of this epidemic fever that has spread among software vendors.

 

Why I need to cheat you?

 

When AVG changed to the Metro UI, It also came with a bug that completely blocked all internet connection. I waited for 30 days before having to give up and move on. I hope G-Data won't repeat this stupid mistake. If so, there is always Emsisoft, which is my second best.

I don't know, but then I didn't say you were I was only asking for the source of your info that's all. But it doesn't matter now since it seems to be true anyway.

 

In all the youtube tests right now, I have only seen one detection of anything with G-Data's new in-house engine. I really don't see why they would get rid of Avast! It seems silly, and probably a cost cutting exercise of some sort.

 

IME, most of the double-engined AVs with BitDefender show the same result; BitDefender detects the threat before the second engine, e.g. Avast/AVG.

So maybe it is to save money and/or maybe our Inspector Clouseau has developed a good Engine B?

 

Inspector Clouseau is from Gdata?

 

When Avast! detects a threat and also BitDefender yes it stops it with BitDefender's signs but it also shows you the engine B detection.
