Somehow surprising results. Kaspersky that has consistently performing well in many tests have shown less than impressive results. Ikarus that was tested by favavirusi.com as the "best of the best" but with bad battery use here its just the opposite. Weak detection and no impact on battery. Start wondering how relaible are testing organisations or sample used.

TrustGo is an amazing app for android phones.

Glad it got good results in the test.

    acr1965- A+ for this thread!:thumb:
TrustGo the only app to ace the test.

Well, I'm not familiar with faravirusi.com - but av-test.org is a respected company in that business and has been performing AV tests for many years.

Yeap, indeed... my concern was more on the other test than AV-TEST as I see more and more tests posted by this Organisation (?) at Wilders. I have the impression they are another "home-grown" exercise considering some of the results are really weird, to say the least. :)

There were 515 Android samples used in the last Faravasi test out of which 11 were undetected by ESET. Among them, there were a couple of samples that we have on the clean set or that are internally classified as grayware (ie. with questionable detection). Apart from Android samples, there was a pcap log, mbr image, xml files, unknown binary file, etc. in the test set.

Would be interesting to see Zoner included in the test group, they are a long time android and Linux security company with millions of users.

So we had 515 Android samples and you missed 11. A simple math results in 504 detections, right?

What was your detection in our test instead? 240 !!
    Please don't mislead people.

And you weren't throwing in any non-android files? All the ones in your test were actually live and able to run?
Not to seem rude, but exactly who are you? This seems like the homemade tests Wilders is supposed to not allow.
    AV-Test - TrustGo 100%
    Your test - TrustGo 60%
    That's a big discrepancy.

Tried it awhile back but did not care for it. Maybe I will give it another go. I switch between Kaspersky and Lookout these days. Hoping to see Avast make some improvements in some areas as well.

AV-Test showing Bitdefender scored 5.5 in protection but then they show 100%. Am I missing something?

It is kinda weird. I checked all of the results and some looked weird.
Still, it's good to know now we are having more tests for Android AVs.

The TrustGo app is free and has these features:

    - Security Scanner
    - System Manager
    - Privacy Guard
    - Data Backup

    - Secure Web Browsing (can enable or disable)
    - Device Protection (can enable or disable)

For the standard user it would be more than sufficient. That being said I also have a BitDefender mobile license and might try it out again because TrustGo's battery usage seems high.

It amazing to see that within a year, Lookout, once the leader by a big margin, is now lumped in with the rest of its competitors.

I tried TrustGo again last night. It would not detect the eicar test files either on download or during a scan. Uninstalled and went back to Lookout.

TrustGo detected all three Eicar test samples on Google Play on my Google Nexus - both on downloading and scan after I allowed them to download.

I wonder why they don't just use the 99.5% (percentage) only. And ditch the 5.5, 6.0 that they show on the site :doubt:

Ikarus got good results in AV-C Mobile Security Review September 2012 as well. I like the Ikarus app, it's simple and light. :)

I'm using TrustGo with Lookout no problems. Great to see them so effective.

Lookout has really improved. I recommend it highly.
