Granular HIPS for Windows 7 similar to EQSecure?

I've been out of the loop for awhile and was wondering what the current top solutions are.

EQSecure's application/registry/file control was unmatched at the time I started using it, but now with XP becoming obsolete (no directx 10+, usb3, ssd trim, etc), I've decided it's time to move on to Windows 7.

With EQSecure, once you set your programs up you didn't need to worry much about popups. You just set it and forget it.

Another thing I really liked is that not only was I able to create fine-toothed profiles for my internet facing apps, but I could also do the same for online games. They didn't stutter, lose fps, or fail to load up. They just played as they normally would, except with an invisible security blanket.

And with Alcyon's periodically updated rule sets, EQSecure's security kept getting incrementally better despite a lack of updates from the developer.

Without EQSecure, a move to Windows 7 will feel naked. Perhaps there's something out there that can adequately replace it?

Look under Programs and Files and Registry to see if the settings meet your needs. IMHO, I don't see how it can get any more granular.
The firewall (superbly tweakable) and white/black lists are easily disabled if those are a concern.

 

32 or 64 bit? If it's 32 bit then there's always Malware Defender.

 

Comodo has a good HIPS.Its light as well.

 

Unfortunately, once you leave XP, you say "bye bye" to the diversity of standalone applications you were accustomed to...

1) Classical HIPS are limited to Online Armor, Comodo, Outpost but you get a firewall too and for 32bit, Malware defender.

2) Standalone firewalls without HIPS are few.

3) Standalone behaviour blockers are the limited to Mamutu.

I 'd go for Comodo 5.10 with sandbox disabled for Win7. It's the most mature version of Comodo for Win7 and well organized.

 

I would use a HIPS that is still supported and developed. Such as Comodo and OA.
If you disable all the auto features and cloud features you will get a classical HIPS.

 

I would add to the list DefenseWall though it's only 32 bit for now.

 

Comodo in paranoid mode, you can also train it.

 

I would take Online Armor, because it is free and not very complicated.

 

And what about ThreatFire...why is it forgotten? It's not similar to EQS or MD or SSM...but in fact could be very powerful after making advanced settings.

 

Windows also has a neat little HIPS style module built in within the parental controls.
