I keep getting a message saying that my nod32 antivirus has detected a potentially unwanted application, but when I check the filepath it doesn't exist. In addition, when I get the pop up message about submitting files for analysis, I click the link and nothing happens.

I feel confident that the unwanted file has indeed been deleted, but how can I make sure? And if it has, how can I tell nod32 to stop giving me that message?

Hi. It should be in the Quarantine have you looked there? :)

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Checked but no, nothing there. Not this rogue file, anyway...

Is there any reason why you haven't upgraded to v5 or v6 yet?

    Would that solve my issue?

Yes, it would. The issue you've been experiencing with older versions will be addressed by a module update soon.

The module update should affect any program version (v3/4/5/6) home and business or just version 6? And this problem affects which versions ?

Although the same module will be installed for all versions, the particular fix will take effect only for v3/4 users as it concerns ThreatSense.Net, not LiveGrid.

OK, thanks. I had a look and I'm under the impression that I should have been prompted to upgrade? I downloaded the NOD32 live installer but I'm a bit hesitant to use it as I don't remember my NOD32 password...

I would have thought you should have received a product update indicator, but then again I use Smart Security 6, not NOD32, so I am unsure. But as far as the password is concerned you could look at this page.

    Hi,

So I've updated to version 6 and I'm still getting this same problem. The unwanted application is still being flagged in a folder which no longer exists. ESET still says it's 'unable to clean' the offending file.

Please post a screen shot to illustrate the problem.

That directory, C:\$Recycle.Bin\s-1-5...\ doesn't exist (or at least I can't find it in the $Recycle.Bin folder).

That is because by default system folders are hidden. Follow these instructions and you will see the hidden recycle.bin folder.

    Hi,

Sorry I should have been clearer. I have found the hidden recycle.bin folder; it is the folder inside the recycle.bin folder, S-1-5..., which is not there.

You cannot see the folder with your current account's SID via Windows Explorer even with protected operating files not hidden. However, using a file manager displaying all hidden and protected files and folders should reveal the folder.

    Hi,

I checked in the $recycle.bin using a file manager (xplorer2) and still can't find this particular folder.

I'm not familiar with Xplorer2, maybe it doesn't show hidden and system files and folders without enabling the appropriate option after installation. I'd suggest using FAR which shows all files and folders by default.
