I agree. :thumb: I think once they allow quarantine to restore deleted files, it will be a great. It's light and like Shadek said the Web blocker is extremely effective.

Getting impatient here. Would this offer great protection along with Windows firewall?

Depending on your browsing habits and if you are behind router, but yes, it would provide good URL filtering protection along with good traditional blacklist scanning.

Can BDAV Free replace a firewall altogether?

I asked Iulika if they were compatible with each other and he said no because of CFW's Defense+, but he was gonna see what the dev team could do to make this possible. Possibly collaborate with the Comodo devs.

Iulika said they use similar hooking mechanisms so it causes problems.

I'm told you need to uninstall MBAM Pro in order to install BDAV Free. Is that true?? Can MBAM Pro be installed after and are there conflicts with BDAV Freeo_O I mean conflicts with the "File System Protection" and "Website Blocking" of MBAM Pro. Apart from FP. I think it really saved my life on some sites like http://www.streamiz.com/

No, you can keep MBAM if you wish so. There are currently no known compability issues between the two softwares.

Since registration is required to keep using it forever, do you have to be logged into your account every time? How does that work.

    See pic in link below.
Is anyone else getting FIN_WAIT2 connections after clicking randomly through a YouTube video in Chrome?
This issue has been driving me mad, until I decided to actually disable Bitdefender Free's Virus Shield. Now, not even a single fin_wait appears in TcpView and YouTube is alot faster now when I want to skip ahead in videos.

The issue persists even after closing Chrome. The only way to stop it is to manually close the connections using a program like TcpView, rebooting the PC, or disconnecting the ethernet.

System Specs: Win 8 64-bit, Chrome with extensions Xmarks and ABP, and using PPAPI flash (chrome's built-in flash)

    BUGGY..

I installed this on a clean client computer, it bluescreened after installation. Then the machine kept hanging on boot. Pathetic, uninstalled immediately and put PandaCloudFree on it. No problems at all.

I used Bitdefender free several years ago. I know nothing about the newer version, but can tell you that the older version was best used in a forensics role, that is, without active shields it would be a backup on my box, to check if my resident antivirus missed anything.~And~ Bit defender free worked perfectly with my existing antivirus (Avast), and my firewall (Comodo). Bitdefender is one of the BEST antivirus apps available, it's detection rate is far superior to any other antivirus app out there, including (Yes) Kaspersky. And it is not always giving false positives, like Avira.

I installed it on 5 machines, ranging from XP x32 to W7 x64, all used by average users aged 17 to 72, with no issues at all............Far from BUGGY.

A couple of days ago when I closed Chrome, I got a blue screen. First for me in Windows 8, though it hasn't happened again... yet.

    WhoCrashed reports:
    Code:
On Mon 2/11/2013 6:27:31 PM GMT your computer crashed
    crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: avc3.sys (avc3!UcAddUrlEntry+0x18EB4)
    Bugcheck code: 0x3B (0xC0000005, 0xFFFFF803A0AEEDB1, 0xFFFFF880090ECC30, 0x0)
    Error: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
    file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\avc3.sys
    product: BitDefender AVC
    company: BitDefender
description: Active Virus Control filter driver
Bug check description: This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: avc3.sys (Active Virus Control filter driver, BitDefender).
    Google query: BitDefender SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

In the first version I had some small issues with the product but the latest version seems to be very stable. I have it running on a win7 32/64 systems.
I only have the win7 firewall and BD free installed. I think that is all you need for realtime protection. Mbam, CCC and F-secure are my only on-demand scanners.

I have Windows 7 64-bit so if I eventually install BDAV hopefully I won't run into any problems. Too bad we're not allowed to ask which AV is better.

Yes, but go to sites like AV-C, AV-test, Malwareresearchgroup... they will give you a very good picture of which engine is the best to use and what engine that is leased by other vendors that are also in the top-5... I cannot say more than that though, as that'd break the forum rules. But one particular engine is superior to the others and stands out quite clearly, and have been so for two years now. :)

I checked them out. Makes me want to take the leap.

Guess what I could do is reinstall Comodo Firewall once they become compatible. Then it will no doubt be the best. :)
