Is this thread done and dusted ? Is there nothing more to discuss about Ad Muncher ? :D

Well, I don't know either, but possible reasons could be ...

    a) first big hype is already over? :D
    b) people just have fallen asleep :isay: (while getting old :D) waiting for the legendary v5?
    c) ... ?

Clearly I have nothing to discuss about Ad-Muncher besides .. maybe with v5 I will test it again (if I am still around then and hype is building up again ) but I doubt it at this moment very much because I couldn't see the purpose of v4 for ME (!) and MY adblocking needs and I was looking very hard to find anything and of course read the so called unique characteristics, but unfortunately to no avail! :) ). - Don't need this product as it is now, sorry. - And I love (!) to really "need" and like great software so much that I hurry up buying a license (it's a great feeling, maybe you know what I am talking about). Didn't happen so far with AM.

As I said before .. blocking those annoying Skype flash ads etc. could be a reason for me to like and using it ... maybe! - I guess we just have to wait now for the release of the all-is-new version and then discussion will start again here, I wouldn't worry about that and 2013 is still in it's early days, right? :D

many skype ads are blocked now...

i find it strange you don't think you need Ad Muncher after reading what It can do...

    oh well. ;p

Well, I read all about it (not only this thread) but when I tested it I didn't like it. - I have to be convinced in "reality", talking alone about something and how good it is (and you are quite bold with your statements all the time) doesn't make me happy, you see?

But maybe it's just me and my system as many others do very much like your product. - I didn't and that is my feedback to you, do with it whatever you like. ;)

And no single (flash) SKYPE ad was blocked when I was testing AM (during your discount offer at the end of last year). So I was a bit disappointed if you can understand this. ;)

I have to go to bed now and then get up again after only 3 hours, doing for once what I should have done hours ago, but AIMP hindered me! (other thread). :D

Of course I would like to give your software another shot, doesn't matter when, it hasn't to be right now or tomorrow or this week! - If it REALLY speeds up my surfing experience, my system (compared to what I now use) and is working fine I am convinced easily. ;) - So no hurry, just keep on developing v5, many people are waiting for it and when it is released game is on again. :)

Well, I'll put my 2 cents in about it. As far as the lack of posts lately in the thread, the initial "buzz" probably is over for now. The reason it really got started was the sale price for AM a while back, and then, well, I guess those who bit have already discussed what they needed to discuss and got either satisfactory or unsatisfactory answers. It has a separate support thread for social blocking here as well too, and many migrated over to there for a bit.

Whether you buy into the "hype" or not is solely up to you. Speaking for myself, I don't, but I don't buy "hype" period. Jeff is a cool dude and very helpful when someone has an issue, but AM isn't the end all, be all "god" of adblocking. I never even see it mentioned outside of here, their own forum and the occasional post linked to on Google, and those seem to be more "Where is Version 5?" and less "praise". Truth is, most adblock users are used to, know about and quite content with AdBlockPlus. Whether it is better than AM is an argument that can go back and forth for days and not one I care to start again. You have to judge that for yourself, not go by what Jeff says or what a handful of people here say. Is it good? It very much is so. Is it better, faster than the alternative? Opinion and someone pushing their page tests on you is about all you'll really get without you yourself using it.

I'm neither for nor against AM or its alternatives. I simply use what is best for me overall, whether one method is missing a feature another has or not. I don't plan to buy another license when my year is up unless V5 comes out in that time. That's not so much because I have bad issues with or don't like AM at all, but more that there is no non-business related software on the face of this earth that I need or want to the point that I can't help but break out my wallet. I'm just not wired that way.

I take the lack of posts as a good thing.

It means for those who are using Ad Muncher, it's working well. :)

bug reports generally out number "good job" posts. ;)

Probably not much discussion because its pretty much set and forget for the average joe.Personally I always wished admuncher would include a cookie blocker set to block by default and with allow for session or allow permanent to whitelist option.I've had a licence for admuncher for years, but the lack of cookie blocking in it,makes it feel lacking and not complete for me.It blocks practically everything else......why not stick a decent cookie blocker in there too?

Just tested AM again. For me, same thing--ABP/AB (AdThwart) with Easylist are both faster and of course can filter SSL. I actually normally use Adversity filters which are even lighter; custom CSS on pages I visit a lot.

Will check in again with 5.0.

I don't know how AdThwart could possibly be faster since it's based on javascript..

Ad Muncher is much faster because it uses native code.

we've worked on the speed of the filtering engine for 14 years, it crushes everything else.

I wonder how it could possibly be slow since Ad Muncher is faster than real time even on computers that are 10-15 years old.

With that being said, it's not just about speed, it's about filtering capabilities.

Ad Muncher just does so much more and protects you in ways and removes things that ABP can not.

If there was something better than Ad Muncher, I would be using it.

The only thing I agree with you on is lack of SSL support but that will be moot soon enough.

Admuncher is much lighter, and faster. Run some page-load timers using admuncher vs ABP/AB, and you will find - generally AM loads them twice as fast.Sometimes less, but rarely under 50% faster. This is scientific fact because anyone can test it, and get the same results.

Does Ad Muncher still has problems with Avast! Web Shield?

They are both scanning the web.

    You need to pick one...

Avast will still pick up malware before they execute even if you disable web shield.

Is there a way in which we can use Ad Muncher to block malware websites?

ad muncher already does this to a large extent.

including remove the malware on a lot of domains without blocking the domains themselves.

works as newer domains are infected...

    Block retrieval of URL:
    example.com

similar to the HOSTS file but works as a keyword.

you can use any part of the domain or path to create the filter, including wild cards.

Yes thats what I was looking for.Is there a way I can import txt files into admuncher?
Block retrieval of URL: category to be used For hundreds of file would be tedious.
