Thanks. Great to see some new ones :D But too bad that Webroot is out. Ah well I guess they will stay in the tests by AV-Test at least. And no Symantec this year either.

Have been waiting for so long, for Emsisoft to be tested. One of my absolute top favorites Av's with a awesome behavior Blocker. And with a signature database that I truly don't think is matched by many.

Apart from Emsisoft are there any new vendors being tested?

The list looks smaller than last years.

That being said I am looking forward to seeing Emsisoft's results as the current product is much better than it was in previous years.

it is not smaller. in fact we wanted to get back to 16-20 vendors like it was in past, but then decided to keep for this year same amout as last year.
pc tools and webroot are replaced with emsisoft and kingsoft.

    Still no Norton/Symantec. :thumbd:
If they won't be tested I will/have changed AV.
Keep up the good work IBK.

Is the list as it currently stands definite or can vendors still apply for this years testing?

Just curious in-case more were to be added to the list being tested this year.

It would be nice to see Symantec tested again at some point.

Tried out Norton Internet Security product for 2-3 weeks recently and it had 0 false positives, scan speed was quick and it was light when browsing.

They may be out of these particular tests, but that is by mutual agreement. AV-C and Webroot have jointly issued this statement, which can be seen at the Webroot Community:

Kingsoft should be interesting, esp. compared to Avira.

For those that want to see how Norton does, check out AV-Test and the other orgs.

Yes I am aware of that. And maybe they will get tested in one way or another, but simply not in the main tests as the rest of the vendors.

But I guess Joe can chime in on this and share the testing plan if there is one for Webroot. :)

Nice to see emsisoft it seems AV-c will be full of bitdefender engines. I was kinda hoping to see rising but Kingsoft will be interesting

Given how poorly AhnLab did, and how many tests Tencent skipped, I wish they weren't included. I would have much rather seen ZoneAlarm's free AV and AdAware's free AV.

Isn't ZoneAlarm's Kaspersky, and isn't Adaware using Vipre?

Yes but I want to see if they improve upon those engines or make them worse, because both did worse than their 3rd-party AVs in AV-Test.

Yes we need some new marketing songs.
"We are too innovative to be testet and so on",
"We track changes and can rollback even days later, so no matter if malware is not detected in first places" (But..there are many things malware does in the meanwhile that can't be rolled back)

Joking beside: It's good for them to be not in the test anymore, so they can claim such things longer.

Depending on the month choosen. Sometimes they did even better. ;)
With the limited resources available to testing organisations I understand that engine clones are not very attractive.

    Wait WHAT?
Emsisoft? Good news . . . i guess they finally pulled the trigger since they have BD engine now and this will bring much better results and now EAM is better than ever. (Low FP-s compared to IKARUS) :D

Any idea when the test will be conducted?

Look at previous year tests, they are usually released in the same timeframe. :D
