I only have a dual core 2.0 ghz, 2gb memory on win7 pro 32 bit. I kind of care about Ram usage. I can pretty much tell if a high Ram usage program is going to grind my system to a halt.

I'm running about the same setup as you and Forticlient runs about the same responsiveness as MSE.

I thought that you are kidding but it's probably serious opinion...hmm...You probably don't know that there is about 1,2-1,5 bilion active computers on the world and Win XP has ca 20%...adding only 10% from part for Win7 (55% of active systems) we are talking about 30% active users whose systems can not support more than max 3,5 GB of RAM.
So my question is...do you realy consider that 250-300 milions people are "nobody"? :ouch:

Exactly the specs of my lappie except for I installed W8 on it.
I too care about ram usage but I don't give a damn if the av takes all of it as long as my system feels fast and responsive :p

One of my laptops running Windows 7 which I will in time upgrade to Windows 8 only supports a maximum of 3 gigs of RAM, and I'm not going to replace the laptop with one which supports more RAM any time soon.

Anyone that cares about HD space or Ram usage needs to pull a $20 bill out of their pocket and stop being so cheap. I can pick up terabyte drives all day for a couple of 20's.. 4GB of pretty fast ram will set someone back, what.. $20 at the most? I have a cheap $400 laptop from 3 years ago that even has 4GB of ram on it.. It's probably worth a 50 spot right now.. Time for some upgrades guys...

I mean get real here, we are talking about a couple of McDonald combo meals.

    McDonald combo meals $4.99
    Bypass surgery or stints $40,000

People want the lightest racecar with the baddest motor - that's just human nature.

Really? How ignorant can one person be?
I have an old Dell E1505 running ddr2 5300. 4gb set will set me back anywhere between $40-60.
A recent HD upgrade of a 320gb 7200RPM Scorpio blue ran me $75.
I'm sorry but I'd much rather mix and match my security to run lighter, then drop $60 on memory.
Since I am married with 2 kids, 2 cars, mortgage, etc.....I'm less likely to spend that $60 on RAM then send my kid to soccer practice for the spring.
    Grow up.

memory discussions aside. please note this suite will affect your ping tremendously (33ms to 144ms)

even by disabling all real-time components, the problem does not go away. not an issue for most but its a concern for online gamers like myself. uninstalling is the only way of stopping this behavior, i will however continue installing it on client machines.

    the URL filter is superb

I installed Forticlient 5.0.1.194 on my Win XP netbook today. It seems to be running fine but on shut down and on start up I am getting these funny boxes reminiscent of Windows 3.1 telling me that Windows is shutting down or starting up. Is anybody else getting that?

Thanks for that, my ping went from 33 to 85. Don't feel any slower, maybe that's why their web filter works as well as it does?
Must have changed router settings as all my computers showing a ping of 85.

OK, turned router off then back on - ping back to normal 33ms.

Well SSDs are still expansive and those limited by 3GB RAM usage have to buy a new computer.

Well so far so good. Feels slower than Bitdefender Free but faster than MSE. Web filtering is awsome too.

As I have already said, one of my laptops which I use a lot only supports a maximum of 3 gigs of RAM.

Since it is more than fast enough to run any software I need, and I simply can not fault the build quality and reliability of the laptop I won't be replacing the laptop for at least 5 years.

lol. I remember building a pc from scratch was way cheaper than a completed pc. Now you can get towers, laptops etc.. for under $400 fully raided and win8 installed to boot.

Back on topic, I gave this suite a whirl and I'm pretty impressed with the results. I tried to break it with the small sample of malware and tried MDL for good measure but this sucker caught everything.

Good job Forticlient! Is this program free or do you pay for it after a few months?
