What's the purpose of Softpedia?

    I'm not sure if this is a joke post or not...

    it's clearly a site like download.com for hosting shareware/freeware....

    It's an excellent portal of free internet software that supports multiple formats. Some of what's available is totally free and open source while other downloads may include a free trial for a paid application. Explore it fully and see what you might find useful. Hope this helps.

    Softpedia is approximately equal to "Software" + "Encyclopedia"
    It serves 3 purposes (afaik).

    1. Download portal.
    2. Provide info and news.
    3. Make money (but that's a given)

    I find that they are better than most sites about having the latest versions of all of their downloads. Filehippo comes pretty close as well.

    It's a very nice portal to awesome software unlike Cnet that you have to pass through hell to get good software but the question is can you come back out clean.;)
