    I really don't get it.

ESET Nod32 Antivirus 4 had Check for Updates command at Tray menu.
ESET removed it at version 5 and added "Product activation" at Tray menu.
Version 6 still no "Check for Updates" at Tray menu.

If you can add "Product activation" at Tray menu
Why not "Check for Updates" at Tray menu?
Dose ESET think "Product activation" is more useful than "Check for Updates" at Tray menu for users?

This is not for user convenience.

I don't see the point for keeping the "Activate your product" menu after you successfully activate. In my case, I'm not gonna touch that (I don't have to) for 2 years.

    Hello,

ESET Smart Security (and ESET NOD32 Antivirus) 6 check for updates automatically every 60 minutes—I'm unsure why most customers would need to check for updates more frequently than that.

The last time I looked into, ESET released just over three updates a day on average (3.2, I think, but that may have increased slightly in the past year, especially for versions of the software with pre-release updates checked), which are staggered throughout the day, so continuously checking for updates isn't likely to do much more than return "No updates founds" most of the time.

I will pass your feedback about the activation context menu item being displayed on copies of the software which are already activated to ESET's project management team. In the future, for a quicker response, please post to the Future Changes to EAV message thread, which they check for this sort of program feedback.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

    Thank you for your response
Of course, frequent update and smooth automatic update I'm welcome but that's not my point.

    There is no answers?

ESET and other antivirus products are available manual update. This option is provided. Why? because we use it.

Users still need manual update(software, virus signature database) some reasons and the one thing for sure users use manual update more than product activation.

Why do we use tray menu? Easy access to commands.
Two step increases three step and more mouse movement required for manual update since version 5.
I'm talking about user convenience and UI design.

PS. I posted last year to the Future Changes to EAV message thread regarding this.
