forticlient beta 5 running well

I don;t know if anyone else is useing this program but it is running well and it has caught everything I have thrown at it.

What has changed since the last version?

 

I used to use forticlient several years ago before there was a light version. Beta 5 has less user control than the old version which night be a good thing as the old version had a bucket load of settings. I like this version much more. as far as the actual changes it has been to many security programs through the brain to remember all the differences between the old and the new version.

 

Are you sure it's beta? I see v5 in their main download section on the front page of their site.

will test it out tomm and see how i like it. ive used it in the past and kind of had a soft spot for it. would like to see how this one performs now.

 

It has very little if any impact on performance with my Toshiba Laptop.

Forticlient Lite v4.3 did "not so good" on the latest av-test.org test under Windows 7

 

I tried the stable version a few days ago, and really didn't like it due to the interface and configuration options being very limited.

Still, it's worth a try as its free. But I settled on Outpost Security Suite Free (briefly I just upgraded to the Pro version) as its more complete.

 

Which AV engine does this one use?

 

I think its their own but I could be wrong...

I suspect this is out of beta. The main Forticlient website have v5 available, and doesn't list it as beta any longer. I may give it a try.

I remember the previous version slowing startup considerably.

 

Uses 11 processes for me. About 70 meg.

 

Dang, I was looking for this to download for weeks, and couldn't find it. This product actually performs really well on some enterprise testing. But I noticed it catching a lot of stuff on someone of the honeypots, and I wanted to run it. I thought it was constrained to SOHO/Enterprise hardware..

I'd give this a go if I didn't already pick up a long term BG license. Oh well.

 

I'm using the Lite version on a second PC and it looks exactly like the picture above. (and is version 5 as well, but doesn't show up as beta)

 

It'd be interesting to see how this performs.

 

To me it seems a bit slower then MSE.

 

Tried it out on "grey" items found at a sharing site and was pleasantly surprised that FortiClient actually scans inside compressed files during download. It caught keygens, trojans, and a backdoor bot before they even downloaded. Zowweee! I'm keeping this one even though I have some concerns about the detection rate. Hitman Pro, MBAM, and VT (all on demand) will take up any slack.
