And all those Anonymous group hackers who aren't in jail .... well, they're not... and if they are truly "Anonymous" very few ever will be.

We can never be sure.He was dox'ed correctly by backtrace in march and arrested in June.So it could be fbi followed on backtrace report or something else.

  3. The FBI did follow backtrace on the report/DOX. Sabu was DOX'D twice, once by backtrace and the other time by Le Researcher.

He also didn't anonymize his MAC Address, correct?

    PD

Edit: No, that was Hammond...my memory was foggy:

But even that^ is a little confusing...his MAC stops at his router...Tor would never see it. Bottom line: Anonymize your MAC and use a Cat6 cable :)

  5. How can that possibly stand up in court? All they have is a MAC address and a informant's say so. They have 0 proof that it was him, only the say so of a informant.

This tells me he needs a good lawyer, because if he had one it would be thrown out of court for lack of evidence.

    mac address is irrelevant.
Hammond provided a lot of personal info to sabu over chat,he once told him that he uses macbook and fbi during his survillence confirmed looking at the mac address and laptop name that it is a macbook, other than that he told sabu about all of his arrests, year and place and fbi used this info to lookup their databases to come up with the name Jeremy Hammond, after that they put him under survillence and correlating the time he was online/offline on IRC chat with sabu with the time he left his house, they made sure that he is the right guy.

Read a UK police report on topiary, ryan, kayla presented in court.
Ryan provided them all the info about his botnet, how he created and spreaded it... how he DDos attacked servers, his chat logs, everything. He was on bail but arrested again on 7 march 2012 for jumping bail condition by going online and chatting with sabu so that he can restore Ryan's online reputation, who of course snitched him again.

When police raided topiary they found 10 minutes mail open in his browser and an encrypted True crypt partition. He provided them his password to open it *IDIOT*,which contained Virtual machines, chat logs, stolen data, credit card details and other documents.I guess both of them are going to regret it once this information is used against them in the court. If you have the right to remain silent then do so.

Kayla was smart.Cops didnt have much on kayla,so they wanted to catch him red-handed,cops had twitter open on their laptop outside his house and checking twitters of lolspoon to make sure he is online when they raid him.Instead of knocking the door they gained entry into his Room through fire escape and saw twitter of lolspoon open on his computer but kayla had a tripwire set,so the moment cops moved his computer tower to save it from his kicking, computer turned off closing all the open windows and applications. However they were able to recover fragments of text kayla,Lulzsec,Topiary etc from pagefile.sys... and on his jabber buddy list he had topiary@jabber.org and laureilei@jabber.org... and on 25 june 2011,his home ip was used to login into lolspoon twitter, maybe he forgot to hide it one time.

  7. Yeah Kayla was always smart, seems they didn't have much on her/him. I knew Topirary handed over his password, but really he had no option.

The men who signed the American Declaration of Independence kept a low profile until it was served on King George III. And then, many of them went into hiding. Also, most of them were Freemasons, and so were schooled in discretion -- and crypto ;)
