Hi, has anyone used or know a lot about the Bluestacks android app player for PC? I would like to try it but am hesitant to install something I am not sure may cause problems. I especially would like to know if it is easy to uninstall completely without difficulty and whether installing and running causes any problems with your pc. Anyway any advice or recommendations would be welcome. It seems like Bluestacks comes with the Google Play Store now but even that I am not sure as the info I found was not completely clear.

When I was trying to research Bluestacks I also came across another android emulator called Jar of Beans. Similar questions as above if anyone knows anything about it. I saw several comments that Jar of Beans does not need to be installed but just run as an executable file but I am not clear if that makes it safer?

    Thanks.

I lurk here more than I post, but thought I'd sign it to give you my feedback.

I downloaded Bluestacks a few days back to play around with it. I'm fairly new to android (Nexus 7 a few months back), so thought I'd play around with it.

Anyway, bottom line: Good luck getting it uninstalled. I had to manually find (registry as well) everything and remove it myself. Even after all that, there's still a piece or two that I can't track down. Very angered by that. I'm not the only one who had/has that issue if Google is to be believed.

It seemed to do what it promised after installed, though, but realized I had no use for it after playing with it for a few hours.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

    Thanks for the replies.

The removal difficulties of Bluestacks was just what I was concerned about.

As for WindowsAndroid I had not heard of it before but it looks very new. I have the same questions though as for Bluestacks if anyone has tried it. Can it be uninstalled easily and fully? And can you access Google Play Store with it?

Lastly, will any of these in comparison with booting into Android x86 be faster or slower? If I ran Android x86 as a live cd I assume I could not install apps from Google Store as I don't see where they could be installed? Is that correct or is there a way? Can it be done if Android x86 was run off USB? If fully installed as a dual boot set up would Android x86 run about as well as any other Linux installed that way? And can Android x86 at least run on an old machine with only 256 or 384 of ram?

    Thanks again.
