If you mean ver 1 (latest ver 1.0.1.61), it hasn't been developed since 2006 and is no longer supported. It's considered EOL (End of Life).

if it were end of life then it wouldnt be still available on the website.
Unless there are serious flaws then a firewall does not need updating.
Look at outpost free for example.still available for download even though it hasnt been updated since 2009.:D

I found it to be rather annoying. The last 3 times I tried it it did not remember application rules. Endless prompts to allow or deny....

I can't find ver 1 on the official website. Besides EOL, in terms of the context of its meaning, still applies to this version:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/End-of-life_(product)

With any luck to those still using an EOL product, it might not ever need further updating for the O/S it works on. Not suggesting no one should use it, only that they have to take into consideration a future O/S update or especially a new O/S might break its functionality, not to mention the end of support from its original developer.

That's not the same as free. You might have to think a little deeper.

Yes. There is a free version 1.0.1.61, discontinued in August 2006, that works in Windows versions '98 - XP only.

The latest supported and still developed version is 2.1.0.12.2466 and it is not free. I don't know what the above member is going on about implying it is free. It clearly is not free. It offers only a 7 day trial, after which if one wants to keep using it, requires the purchase of a one year maintenance license, where updates of the current major version number are free. If one chooses not to renew the license after one year, the license for the most recent updated version within the one year maintenance period can still be used with no expiry date, but of course updates will be denied.

Just installed on Windows 7 x64 and it is working flawlessly. It's been awhile since I used JPF on XP, so I couldn't take advantage of renewal pricing, but it doesn't matter. It is worth the price. My favorite firewall ever since switching from Kerio 2.1.5.
