I have installed the release version of Eset 6 on 5 PCs. On one PC which is Win7 32 bit, it continually freezes for a couple of minutes. This has not happened on any other PC nor were there any problems with the PC when it had version 5.
I tried removing both the Microsoft fixes KB 2735855 and KB2750841 but that did not make any difference.
I have also noticed that since Eset 6 was installed there are daily errors showing up in Windows Event viewer for the disk controller on all usb removeable drives even though there are no usb drives connected.
Does anyone have any idea what is causing this or how to fix it. The PC is almost unusable with the freezing issue.

I have done some more testing to try and find the problem. I unchecked Http as suggested in another thread but that has made no difference.
I have now found that the only way to stop the freezes is to disable protection (Antivirus and Antispyware). This fixes the problem.
Does anyone know what has been added to these modules in version 6 that may cause a problem.

Perhaps you could generate an application memory dump of ekrn.exe via the Task manager or a manual crash dump at the point you observe the issue and supply it to ESET for analysis. If disabling real-time protection makes a difference, a log from Process Monitor might suffice.

I have installed the latest update 6.0.308.0 and so far, the PC has not frozen.
If it does freeze again, I will apply the Microsoft hotfix and see if that helps.
Thanks for your help but at this stage, the latest update is looking like it may be the answer.

I am also having freezes after I entered my password in Windows 7 (64 bit), and several other types of freezes. These freezes do not occur every time. Some times I can run the PC normally, but sometimes it wont boot at all.

I also discovered hundreds and hundreds of errors in the event viewer.

I am running version 6.0.306.4. You said there is a service update with version 308. However, when I try to update the program, it says I already have the latest version. I (re-)download the installer and the installer says this as well.

So, where can I obtain version 308?

There seems to be no Dutch version 308 yet.

But when I look at the what is new section, it only mentions:

Which does not cover the problems I had.

Also, I had to reinstall windows between this post and my previous post, because I couldn't boot anymore, and had loads and loads of controller errors (what ever that might be, it mentioned SATA) in my event viewer. So I will go back to version 5 of smart security, because I didn't have problems with that version.

I have installed Eset SS 6 on 5 PCs also, in two different sites. In the first location one PC works fine, the other freezes on a regular basis. At the most recent install, 3 PCs all running Win 7 64, and two locked up at almost the same time about 3 days after install, when one didn't work, they used the next PC and it also froze. 4 days later, now the third PC is locking up.

This is a obvious flaw in the code and needs to be rectified.

I am going back to SS 5 on all 5 PCs until this is fixed, and won't be installing 6 on anymore PCs at this point.

Haven't tried it on a Windows 8 PC, but I am not game to at this time.

    Disappointed.......

All I can say is that version 6.0.308.0 fixed the freezing issue I had.

Just wondering if you have idle state scanning turned on?

Idle state NOT on. As a test I have uninstalled ESET & am trying a test of another Internet Security program. So far so good, no freezes, quicker restart than ESET. But, ESET worked fine yesterday, horribly today. So more tomorrow.

    Do you have Malwarebytes installed?

Yes, I do have Malwarebytes, but the freebie, so no real-time action. With the new Internet Security program so far so good. Running for a few hours now in the second day without any freezes or slowdowns. Boot time is faster, restart time so far just very slightly faster. Shutdown time way faster (than ESET). After another day or so tempted to re-install ESET to see in problems come back, but after so much time wasted already not sure I can survive that!

With at least four full days of no-freeze computing I'm sticking with the new AV program and not even bothering to re-install ESET to retest.
